Show job description

King & Sykes is retained by a PE-backed energy and infrastructure business headquartered in Dallas. The company moves gas to power plants, industrial load and, increasingly, the data centers being built across Texas. It is growing fast, and it builds its own software: dozens of internal applications shipped in the last eighteen months, including the systems it used to run on vendor platforms.

The role

This is a new seat on their Strategy team reporting to the executive who runs both strategy and technology. The job is to sit inside the business, find the processes worth automating, and build the agents that automate them. Sometimes that means building and running it yourself on the company's approved platforms. Sometimes it means designing it tightly enough that the in-house development team can ship it without you in the room. The early work is automating the processes closest to the leadership team, the ones that still run on people and spreadsheets and would be used by the business the day they ship.

You will spend real time with the utility, pipeline and gas marketing teams, including trips to field operations, because the point is to build things people actually use.

Who this is for

  • Roughly one to four years in. Recent graduates with shipped work are welcome.
  • You have built an AI agent or workflow that real users rely on, and you can show it. A demo, repo or writeup is required to be considered.
  • You write code and you can also write a spec. Consultants or product managers who managed a build rather than doing it are not the fit.
  • You are curious about how an energy business actually works and comfortable explaining what you've built to people who don't code.
  • Backgrounds we expect to see: BCG X, QuantumBlack and similar build teams; forward deployed and solutions engineers at AI companies; internal tools and automation engineers at operating businesses; strong recent graduates with a portfolio.

The practical bits

  • Dallas, in-office (Mon - Thurs, WFH Fri)
  • $150,000 to $200,000 base depending on experience, plus annual bonus and an equity award.
  • H-1B transfer considered for the right person.
  • The process is short and includes a take-home work sample.
  • Start early 2027, with flexibility for the right candidate.
