Commercial insurance is a $3 trillion market.Our client is building the agent layer underneath it and looking for a Founding Engineer to help decide what that looks like.

Founded six months ago by two Oxford operators, backed by nearly eight figures at pre-seed from tier 1 investors including one of Silicon Valley’s best-known firms. Still in stealth, already deployed with 3 of the top 10 insurance brokers in the world,over $150B of combined market cap.

You would be engineer five or six of a planned fifteen with a clear path to an FDE on the table.

👔 Responsibilities:

• Split your time roughly 50/50 between forward-deployed work inside broker environments and building the core platform
• Own problems 0-to-1: scope them with the founders, build them, ship them, and watch real underwriters use them
• Design the agent harness itself — orchestration, evaluation, tooling over MCP
• Work directly with the top 10 brokers’ operations teams to turn manual placement workflows into agent-run ones
• Set the engineering patterns the next ten hires will inherit

👤 Candidate profile:

• 2-3 years exp building production software, with at least one thing you owned end to end from nothing
• Python, AWS, SQL and React
• Genuine interest in LLM systems beyond the demo: evaluation, failure modes, what makes agents reliable in a regulated environment
• Commercially curious — you want to sit with the customer, not behind a ticket queue
• Strong academic profile

🚨 This is a 5-day-a-week on-site role in Vauxhall. No hybrid, no remote. 🚨

Interview process: three stages, no coding test,a conversation with the CTO, a technical deep-dive on something you have built, and time with the founding team.
