Austin, Texas | Full-time
US$100,000–110,000 base salary + uncapped commission + equity
Superstat is one of the fastest growing sports tech startups in the world. We turn sports game film into pro-level sports stats using computer vision. Think ESPN level data but for high school, rep or even Monday night social sport with your friends!
Since launching at the start of this year, we have:
- Raised $3.5M from Blackbird VC
- Grown to 5,000+ teams using Superstat
- Launched the world's fastest sports computer vision model.
We're looking for an exceptional salesperson to lead the growth of Superstat across US basketball. Someone who loves selling, knows how to turn a cold conversation into a customer and gets excited about building relationships across the basketball community.
You'll work directly with the founders to get Superstat into basketball clubs, AAU programs, leagues, tournaments, schools and colleges across the country.
As our Head of Basketball Sales, your job is to turn Superstat into a product that basketball organizations (High Schools, AAU Tournaments, Clubs) across the US know, love and use.
You'll own the entire sales process, from finding potential customers and getting in front of decision-makers to demonstrating Superstat, closing deals and growing those relationships over time.
This is a hands-on sales role. You won't be inheriting a sales team or waiting for leads to come in. It’ll be a hands-on role, picking up the phone, sending outbound, setting up systems, attending tournaments, meeting coaches and club directors and finding creative ways to win customers.
You'll work alongside the founders to develop our sales strategy, but you'll have the autonomy to execute, experiment and figure out what works.
As Superstat grows, you'll have the opportunity to build and eventually lead our basketball business globally.
- Win new customers: Find, pitch and close basketball clubs, AAU programs, leagues, tournaments, schools and colleges across the US.
- Build your own pipeline: Generate opportunities through cold calls, emails, referrals, networking and creative outbound strategies.
- Get out into the basketball community: Attend tournaments, visit clubs and schools, meet decision-makers and build relationships across the sport.
- Own deals from start to finish: Run product demos, negotiate deals, close customers and make sure they're successfully onboarded.
- Grow existing accounts: Build long-term customer relationships, drive renewals and find opportunities to expand usage across more teams and games.
- Find what works: Experiment with different customer segments, sales approaches and partnerships to identify the biggest revenue opportunities.
- Build the sales playbook: Develop the processes, CRM workflows and sales strategies that help us scale from thousands of teams to millions.
- Shape the product: Bring customer feedback directly to the founders and engineering team to help make Superstat better.
Your strongest skill is selling. You know how to find opportunities, build trust, handle objections and close deals. You're the kind of person who gets energy from winning a customer and immediately wants to go find the next one.
You're extremely proactive and comfortable creating opportunities from nothing. You don't need someone telling you who to call, what to do next or how to hit your targets.
You have strong commercial instincts and can build genuine relationships with people. You're equally comfortable speaking to a local basketball club director or presenting to a large organization.
You're passionate about basketball and understand the world of coaches, players, clubs and leagues. Existing relationships in US basketball would be a big advantage.
Ideally, you have 2+ years of sales experience with a track record of exceptional results. Experience in sports technology or selling into basketball organizations is a plus, but not essential.
We care much more about your ability than your resume. Show us what you've sold, how you found your customers and the results you've achieved.
Over your first 30 days, you'll learn the Superstat product, get to know our existing customers and start building relationships with basketball organizations across the US. You'll be running demos, prospecting and closing your first deals.
Over your first 90 days, you'll be building a consistent pipeline of new opportunities, testing different sales approaches and figuring out which customer segments and strategies have the greatest potential.
You'll work directly with the founders on sales strategy, pricing opportunities and partnerships, while having the freedom to own your day-to-day execution.
Expect to spend around 20–30% of your time travelling to meet customers, attend tournaments and build relationships across the basketball community.
Success looks like more basketball organizations using Superstat, growing B2B revenue and gross profit, strong customer retention and a repeatable sales process that we can scale.
- US$100,000–110,000 base salary, depending on experience.
- Uncapped performance-based commission.
- Equity ownership in a fast-growing, venture-backed sports technology company.
- The opportunity to build and eventually lead Superstat's basketball business globally.
- Direct access to the founders and significant ownership over sales strategy and execution.
- Company-funded travel to basketball tournaments, events and customer meetings across the US.
- The opportunity to help take Superstat from 5,000+ teams to millions of teams around the world.
We welcome applicants from across the US and also Australians interested in relocating. You'll need to work with us in Austin five days a week, outside of work-related travel. Visa support for Australian applicants is subject to eligibility.
