IT STARTS HERE

Santander (www.santander.com) is evolving from a global, high-impact brand into a technology-driven organisation, and our people are at the heart of this journey. Together, we are driving a customer-centric transformation that values bold thinking, innovation, and the courage to challenge what’s possible.

This is more than a strategic shift. It’s a chance for driven professionals to grow, learn, and make a real difference.

Our mission is to contribute to help more people and businesses prosper. We embrace a strong risk culture and all our professionals at all levels are expected to take a proactive and responsible approach toward risk management.

THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

As Head of Digital Mortgages, you will be the senior business lead for all mortgage-related digital platforms within Santander UK, acting as the primary interface between the business and technology functions. You will bring together commercial, customer and technology priorities to shape and deliver change that improves outcomes for customers and the business.

Your remit will span the full mortgage lifecycle – from origination and decisioning through servicing and core banking systems – across direct and broker communities and all the brands Santander UK uses. You will oversee both live mortgage platforms and journeys and those under development through our Transformation Programme(s), ensuring investment and change are focused on the priorities that deliver the greatest value.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. Key deliverables in role will include:

  • Shape the Digital Mortgages vision and roadmap, setting priorities around customer, commercial and strategic outcomes.
  • Lead change across the Homes Transformation Programme, focusing investment and delivery on the opportunities that create the greatest value for customers and the business.
  • Lead the end-to-end digital mortgage estate, driving improvements across interconnected technology, processes and customer journeys.
  • Drive market-leading digital mortgage experiences, using customer insight and market dynamics to improve simplicity, speed, competitiveness, conversion and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide commercial oversight of the Digital Mortgage estate and Homes Transformation Programme, challenging investment decisions, costs and business cases to drive value from change.
  • Lead, inspire and develop a diverse multidisciplinary team across business and technology, strengthening performance, accountability and collaboration to increase delivery effectiveness.
  • Build influential relationships across senior leadership, product, technology and operations to shape priorities, resolve trade-offs and enable effective decision-making.
  • Operate as an enterprise-level Product Owner, translating customer, commercial and regulatory requirements into clear priorities and executable roadmaps.
  • Lead supplier and delivery partner relationships, challenging performance and ensuring quality, value and delivery support business and customer outcomes.
  • Embed effective risk and control across Digital Mortgage platforms and change, ensuring delivery balances customer and commercial outcomes with appropriate management of risk.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Our people are our greatest strength. Every individual contributes unique perspectives that make us stronger as a team and as an organisation. We’re enabling teams to go beyond by valuing who they are and empowering what they bring.

The following requirements represent the knowledge, skills and experience essential for success in this role:

  • Experience delivering complex business, digital or technology transformation within mortgages or a closely related financial services product environment, translating strategy and investment into tangible customer, commercial and operational outcomes. (Required)
  • Experience leading people and/or multidisciplinary teams and workstreams across business and technology, creating focus, accountability and effective delivery through change. (Required)
  • Strong commercial judgement, prioritising investment and change around customer and business value.
  • Customer-led thinking, using customer needs and outcomes to shape priorities, challenge decisions and improve end-to-end journeys.
  • Ability to shape strategic vision and roadmaps, translating ambition into clear priorities, executable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Sufficient technical understanding of complex systems and technology change to engage credibly with technology teams and constructively challenge decisions and trade-offs.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across business and technology, building alignment, navigating competing priorities and enabling effective decision-making.
  • Ability to connect technology, process and business change to improve efficiency, delivery effectiveness and business performance.
  • Experience managing suppliers and delivery partners, challenging performance and holding partners to account for quality, value and delivery.
  • Sound risk and control judgement within a regulated change environment, balancing effective delivery with good customer outcomes and appropriate management of risk.

WE VALUE YOUR IMPACT

Salary Range:

£99,922.00 - £149,882.00 per annum (depending on experience)

This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
