Head of Secondary Humanities

We are looking for a Head of Secondary Humanities for an International School based in Shanghai. This is a full-time position starting from August 2025 academic year. About the school Located in Minhang District, this bilingual boarding school for children aged 6-18 merges the Chinese national curriculum with the International Baccalaureate. Its university-style campus offers education in Mandarin and English, integrating Chinese and international teaching methods. Job responsibilities Teach subjects of Humanities to students in secondary education Lead, supervise, and evaluate departmental staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team Mentor teachers, particularly early-career educators, through coaching and professional feedback Manage departmental budgets, resources, and logistics for field trips, guest speakers, and events Design and update engaging, inclusive curricula that meet national/state standards and interdisciplinary goals Conduct lesson observations and provide actionable feedback to improve teaching quality Oversee student well-being and academic progress, addressing barriers to learning Prepare reports on departmental performance for senior leadership and stakeholders Organize training sessions on pedagogical trends, subject knowledge, and classroom technology Communicate with parents via meetings, newsletters, and conferences Requirements Qualified Teacher status with 3-5 years of teaching experience Willingness to teach across 3-4 grade levels Knowledge of world-class science curriculums, including UK and International, and their assessment methods Proficiency in addressing individual needs through differentiated instruction and diverse learning strategies Salary and benefits Monthly salary of 29,000 to 35,000 RMB commensurate with experience and qualifications Monthly accommodation allowance of 8,000 RMB Monthly leadership bonus is 3,500 RMB Paid summer and winter holidays National holidays Flight allowance Medical health insurance Gratuity bonus Work and residence permit sponsorship
