MAKE THE DIFFERENCE! THINK CUSTOMER FIRST! EXPERIMENT! CARE! BE OPEN!

Do you want to make a difference? Our goal is to always put customers and people first! Our challenge is to experiment and innovate, being open to change and diversity. These are the pillars of the Carel Culture Code, the basis of our corporate culture and our platform for growth. If you can relate to these values or want to make them your own, join us and find out just how much we can achieve together!

We are world leaders in control solutions for air conditioning, refrigeration and heating, as well as systems for humidification and adiabatic cooling. Our products guarantee high performance, are energy efficient and environmentally sustainable.

Position

CAREL designs and delivers bespoke control solutions for commercial HVAC/R applications across the UAE and the wider Middle East, including chillers, air handling units, rooftop units, heat pumps and commercial refrigeration systems. We develop application software on CAREL programmable controllers using STone software, CAREL’s IEC 61131-3 based development environment.

We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Developer to join our controls engineering team in Dubai. You will develop, test and commission bespoke control software for commercial HVAC/R equipment using the CAREL STone platform. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will learn to turn thermodynamic and customer requirements into robust, reusable control logic, and see your software running on real equipment in demanding high-ambient conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop control application software in Structured Text (IEC 61131-3) within the CAREL STone environment for CAREL programmable controllers (e.g. c.pCO family).
  • Implement control functions such as compressor and fan staging, PID loops, EEV and superheat control, defrost, alarms and safety interlocks.
  • Build and maintain reusable function blocks and custom libraries to improve quality and reduce development time.
  • Test and debug software using simulation and software-in-the-loop tools before deployment.
  • Configure communication with BMS and third-party devices over Modbus RTU/TCP and BACnet.
  • Design and configure HMI / terminal screens and controller web pages.
  • Support factory testing, on-site commissioning and troubleshooting of HVAC/R units across the UAE.
  • Use version control and follow team workflows, including code reviews and structured release management.
  • Prepare technical documentation: I/O lists, parameter tables, functional descriptions and user notes.
  • Apply secure configuration practices to protect controllers against unauthorised access.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic, Control & Automation, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with a strong programming component.
  • Structured Text / PLC programming: practical experience with IEC 61131-3 Structured Text (e.g. CODESYS, TwinCAT, Siemens SCL), or strong C,C++/Pascal-style programming with willingness to transition quickly.
  • Programming fundamentals: state machines, timers, data structures and modular, reusable code design.
  • Control basics: PID control, hysteresis, setpoints, alarm handling and interlocks.
  • Language: fluent written and spoken English.
  • Mindset: methodical, detail-oriented approach to testing and debugging; eager to learn.

Other Information

What We Offer

  • Full-time, permanent position based in Dubai.
  • UAE employment visa sponsored by the company.
  • Competitive tax-free salary.
  • Structured training on the CAREL STone platform and mentoring by experienced controls engineers.
  • Hands-on exposure to a wide range of commercial HVAC/R projects, from design to commissioning.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a technical interview, including a short practical exercise (for example, writing a compressor staging routine with minimum on/off timers and an alarm in Structured Text).
