From sea to sky, from Norway to the world.
At Noemi Aerospace, we’re building the future of coastal mobility through the Noemi, the world’s first fully electric seaplane. Our versatile, 9 passenger electric seaplanes can also move up to one tonne of cargo - quietly and with no emissions. City harbor to city harbor? Easy. We’re amphibious too - requiring only short distances for takeoff and landing at traditional airports.
Noemi Aerospace is a growing startup with a multinational team of 30 passionate employees. We offer an informal, playful, and dynamic work atmosphere where your voice truly matters and the days fly by.
We will make sure you receive a warm welcome and full support settling in with our technical team at Torp Airport, Sandefjord.
About the position:
We are looking for a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to direct the design, integration, and certification of the electrical system architecture for Noemi. The aircraft relies on a high-voltage battery system feeding a low-voltage electrical distribution network.
In this role, you will take ownership of electrical and avionics systems across current and future aircraft variants. You will define high-level system requirements, establish airframe electrical safety strategies, oversee wiring and harness development, and drive full compliance with EASA airworthiness standards. You will also provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support to our manufacturing, assembly, and flight-test teams.

Main responsibilities:
- System Architecture & Safety Strategy: Define the overall high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical system architecture, establishing grounding, bonding, and lightning/EMC protection strategies for a carbon-fiber airframe.
- Power Systems Integration: Collaborate closely with the Head of Propulsion to manage power delivery, power conversion, and distribution network design.
- Requirements & Design: Develop and manage complex system requirements for Electrical Power Systems (EPS) and Secondary Power Distribution Systems (SPDS), translating them into hardware designs, system control logic, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Testing & Flight Validation: Lead testing, verification, and qualification activities to validate system performance against operational, functional, and environmental requirements.
- Airworthiness & Certification Compliance: Author, review, and approve critical certification artifacts—including Electrical Load Analysis (ELA), System Definition Documents (SDD), and safety analyses—to demonstrate compliance with EASA regulatory standards.
- Supplier Management & Technical Leadership: Oversee vendor selection for peripheral equipment and specialized avionics, managing technical specifications and supplier compliance. Review and sign off on company production packages, schematics and harness layouts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
- 9+ years of professional experience in electrical systems design within aviation, electric mobility, or high-reliability hardware environments.
- Proven experience designing, integrating, and certifying high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Strong working knowledge of EASA airworthiness regulations (EASA CS-23) and aerospace design standards (DO-160, DO-254, DO-178C).
- Hands-on background compiling and approving critical aviation compliance documents: ELA, ICD, and System Definition Documents (SDD).
- Practical experience with system verification, laboratory/HIL testing, troubleshooting and qualification.
- Direct experience with composite airframe electrical bonding, grounding, and EMC/lightning protection.
- Familiarity with high-voltage battery management systems (BMS) and electrical powertrain integration.
- Experience bringing a novel or electric aircraft through flight testing toward type certification.
- Functional schematic drafting and harness design oversight skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical communication skills.
- Impact: A central role in a groundbreaking electric aviation project bringing sustainable flight to Norway and the world.
- Culture: An experienced, innovative, and fun team driven by a shared passion for aviation.
- Compensation & Benefits: Stock option plan and flexible working hours to support a healthy work-life balance.
- Workplace Variety: A balanced mix of office and hands-on workshop environments.
- Relocation & Onboarding: Comprehensive onboarding, including support for foreign residents moving to Norway.
