Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

Industry: Community Banking / Financial Services
Leadership Scope: Approximately 24-person department with 3 direct reports
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Loan Servicing Manager to lead the daily operations, processes, risk controls, and team performance of a growing loan servicing department.
This role is ideal for a hands-on banking leader with deep experience in commercial and/or consumer loan servicing, loan operations, audit and regulatory support, team development, and process improvement. The successful candidate will oversee a broad servicing function while helping modernize workflows, improve operational efficiency, and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Loan Servicing department, including staff scheduling, coaching, training, performance management, and development.
- Ensure loans are boarded, maintained, and serviced accurately and on time within the organization's core loan accounting system.
- Oversee loan setup, maintenance, advances, payments, loan coding, and account servicing activities.
- Manage loan accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliations and data integrity.
- Oversee escrow analysis and payment processing.
- Support participation loan servicing and government-guaranteed loan reporting.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance related to applicable lending requirements, including HMDA and CRA.
- Manage daily and monthly loan servicing reports.
- Oversee the resolution of credit disputes, corrections, servicing inquiries, and account issues.
- Maintain appropriate operational controls and ensure loan servicing activities remain within established risk tolerances.
- Lead the servicing function through internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations in partnership with Compliance and Legal.
- Establish and monitor departmental KPIs, production goals, service levels, and quality standards.
- Partner with Lending, Credit, Operations, Compliance, Sales, and other business units to address servicing needs and operational issues.
- Represent Loan Operations on new product, technology, and enterprise initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements, workflow enhancements, and automation opportunities.
- Recruit, retain, and develop talent while building a strong leadership pipeline and succession plan.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive banking or financial services experience.
- 5+ years of supervisory or people leadership experience.
- Strong experience in commercial and/or consumer loan servicing.
- Approximately 3-5+ years of advanced loan accounting system experience, including areas such as:
- Loan setup and maintenance
- Payment processing
- Escrow administration
- Loan coding
- GL reconciliations
- Participation loans
- Lending regulatory requirements
- Experience with a major core loan accounting or servicing platform.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations.
- Proven ability to manage supervisors and servicing specialists within a high-volume operation.
- Experience developing employees, improving retention, managing conflict, and building effective teams.
- Strong process improvement mindset with experience implementing automation or scalable workflows.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
Preferred Experience
Candidates may come from different banking environments. Strong consideration will be given to professionals with:
- Community or regional banking experience.
- Both commercial and consumer loan servicing experience.
- Broad servicing leadership experience within a larger bank or financial institution.
- High-volume credit union loan servicing experience.
- Loan accounting and reconciliation expertise.
- Collateral management experience.
- Escrow and insurance tracking experience.
- Vendor management experience.
- Workflow automation or servicing technology implementation experience.
- Experience leading teams through operational or organizational change.
What We're Looking For
The strongest candidate will be a hands-on loan servicing leader, rather than someone who has worked exclusively within one narrow area of the loan lifecycle.
We're looking for someone who can:
- Understand the work at a detailed operational level.
- Lead supervisors and servicing specialists effectively.
- Take ownership of audits, examinations, and operational controls.
- Scale processes as the organization grows.
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Build, develop, and retain a strong servicing team.
- Work effectively across Lending, Credit, Compliance, Operations, and other business groups.
Work Environment
- Hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
- Typical business hours are approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Results-oriented leadership environment.
- Hands-on, highly accountable culture.
- The manager is expected to understand servicing operations in depth and coach the team closely.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Broad ownership: Lead an entire loan servicing operation rather than one specialized function.
- Leadership visibility: Work closely with operational leadership and cross-functional business partners.
- Opportunity to modernize: Play a key role in improving workflows, introducing automation, and scaling servicing operations.
- Leadership impact: Develop supervisors and specialists while shaping the future structure of the department.
- Direct-hire opportunity: Long-term leadership position with performance-based incentive potential.
- Relocation support: Assistance may be available for the right candidate.
- Work-life balance: Hybrid schedule and a results-focused working environment.
- Employee-focused workplace: Access to modern workplace amenities and a culture focused on leadership and employee development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
A strong candidate will typically bring 10-15+ years of loan servicing or banking operations experience, including significant people leadership responsibility. Commercial-only or consumer-only servicing leaders may be considered when they have managed a sufficiently broad servicing operation.
Candidates coming from larger banks or credit unions should be able to demonstrate the volume, complexity, team size, and scope of the servicing operation they managed.
Experience That May Not Be a Fit
This opportunity is less suited for candidates whose backgrounds are primarily limited to:
- Mortgage servicing without broader commercial or consumer loan servicing experience.
- Loss mitigation without broader servicing leadership responsibilities.
- Low-volume environments with limited servicing complexity.
- Highly specialized roles focused on only one portion of the servicing lifecycle.
- Individual contributors without meaningful team leadership experience.
