Cobalt Recruitment is partnering with a specialist international accounting advisory business that is expanding its London team.
The firm supports listed companies, private-equity-backed businesses and international groups through complex reporting periods, transactions and finance-change programmes.
This team operates between traditional accounting advisory and hands-on in-house delivery. Its consultants do not simply provide recommendations - they work alongside client finance teams to prepare reporting, implement processes and deliver projects through to completion.
The Opportunity
The business is seeking an Accounting Advisory Manager or Senior Manager with strong exposure to the US market.
You will lead client assignments while remaining actively involved in delivery. Projects will vary and may cover technical accounting, external reporting, capital-markets readiness, financial controls and finance transformation.
The position would suit someone who enjoys the variety and client exposure of advisory work but wants greater continuity, responsibility and visibility across their engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting and financial-reporting projects for listed and international clients.
- Advise on complex US GAAP and financial-reporting matters.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and support the implementation of new standards.
- Support SEC reporting and US regulatory requirements.
- Assist with 10-K, 10-Q, S-1 and S-4 reporting where relevant.
- Support IPO readiness, debt raises, stock offerings and other capital-markets activity.
- Assess and resolve differences between IFRS and US GAAP.
- Deliver SOX readiness, controls implementation and remediation projects.
- Support acquisition, disposal and business-combination accounting.
- Improve month-end, consolidation and external-reporting processes.
- Coordinate with client finance teams, external auditors and overseas technical specialists.
- Manage project plans, budgets, deadlines and client expectations.
- Review and develop junior team members while remaining involved in detailed delivery.
- Contribute to client relationships, proposals and the continued development of the practice.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to offer:
- A recognised accounting qualification, ideally US CPA, ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent.
- Approximately five or more years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of US GAAP and US financial reporting.
- Meaningful experience working in the United States or supporting US-listed businesses.
- A background in accounting advisory, technical accounting, group reporting, external audit or financial control.
- Evidence of preparing and implementing work—not only reviewing or advising.
- Confidence working directly with CFOs, Controllers, auditors and senior finance stakeholders.
- Experience managing projects and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
- Strong written communication and the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
- A proactive, ambitious and commercially aware approach.
Experience across every area listed is not required. The firm is particularly interested in candidates with strong US accounting fundamentals, practical delivery experience and the motivation to develop further.
Particularly Relevant Backgrounds
Applications are encouraged from candidates who have:
- Trained within a US Big Four or leading public-accounting firm.
- Completed a UK or European secondment following experience in the United States.
- Worked within a FAAS, FASS, accounting advisory or capital-markets team.
- Held an in-house technical accounting or group-reporting position within a US-listed business.
- Moved from external audit into financial reporting, SOX or accounting implementation.
- Combined professional-services experience with practical in-house delivery.
Why Consider the Opportunity?
- Work directly with senior finance leaders across varied client assignments.
- Manage engagements from initial scoping through to delivery.
- Gain exposure to US GAAP, SEC reporting, transactions and capital-markets projects.
- Help develop a growing UK-based advisory capability.
- Work within a collaborative environment where individual contribution is visible.
- Access a clear route towards Director and wider practice leadership.
- Benefit from a flexible working model shaped around client requirements.
UK-based candidates are preferred, although US-trained professionals actively considering a move to London are also encouraged to register their interest.
Visa sponsorship and relocation support are subject to individual assessment and confirmation.
