Mine Deputy | Underground Coal Mining
Opportunities across the Lithgow region
We’re partnering with an established underground coal mining business seeking experienced Mine Deputies for opportunities across two of its western NSW operations.
With roles available across both operations, roster options include lifestyle friendly 3 x 12-hour rosters across weekday and weekend crews, along with 4 x 10.5-hour Monday to Thursday rosters.
Reporting to the Shift Undermanager, you will lead an underground production crew while maintaining a strong focus on safety, statutory compliance and operational performance.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Performing the statutory responsibilities of a Mine Deputy
- Leading, coaching and supporting underground production crews
- Completing statutory inspections and monitoring conditions within your area
- Leading start-of-shift meetings and promoting hazard awareness
- Implementing daily production and maintenance plans
- Monitoring compliance with permits, procedures and site safety systems
- Identifying and addressing safety and operational issues
- Supporting incident investigations and reporting
- Working with Undermanagers to achieve production and cost targets
- Preparing clear and accurate end-of-shift reports
What We’re Looking For:
- Certificate IV in Underground Coal Operations
- Current Practising Certificate
- At least 3 years underground coal mining experience
- Current Occupational First Aid qualification
- Strong knowledge of statutory and safety requirements
- Confident leadership, communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to plan effectively and respond to changing operational priorities
Previous team leadership experience, safety investigation experience and qualifications in Leadership and Management or Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
