Location: South Carolina Town / City: Liberty Job Type: Permanent full-time Job description: The Network Engineer will provide Tier 3 support of all network, telephony and computer hardware within the organization. Primarily, the Network Engineer will support the Microsoft Windows based servers, Cisco network switches, routers, wireless access points and firewalls, VMware virtualized environment and Avaya telephony systems. Additionally, the Network Engineer will support the server-side software and cloud based applications. Additional related duties may be required. Some travel and after-hours work are required. Responsibilities Acquisition & Deployment * Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, UPSs, and other hardware. * Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. * Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Operational Management * Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. * Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. * Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. * Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances. * Manage servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software. * Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. * Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports. * Participate in managing all network security solutions. * Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery. * Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team. Experience * Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation. * Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. * Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including: o Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 o Microsoft Exchange2007 or Office 365 2015 o VMWare 5.5 o Symantec Backup Exec o HP Storever * Excellent knowledge of telephony and video conferencing systems, including: o Avaya Aura Communication Manager o Avaya Modular Messaging o Avaya Client Enablement Services o Avaya Scopia/Radvision VC applications o Polycom HDX VC endpoints * Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, supporting: o Cisco Catalyst 2750/3850 switches o Cisco 1800/1900/2800/3800 routers and Cisco ASA 5525-X firewalls o Cisco 3600/3700 WAPs and Cisco 5500 wireless access controllers * Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience. * Extensive application support experience with: o Solarwinds Patch Manager o Websense or Cisco ScanSafe o Windows Server Update Services * Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits. * Good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives. * Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Qualifications and Requirements * Four year degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or 8 years comparable work experience. * Five or more years related work experience in a multi-site/multi-national network environment. * One or more industry accepted certifications (MCSE, CCNA, etc.). * Valid driver's license and possession of or ability to procure a valid passport. * Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. * Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required. * Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. * Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. * Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. * Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. * Strong customer service orientation. * Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
