Community and disability Occupational Therapy across Australia
About the role
Community and disability occupational therapy roles, placed with Australian employers who sponsor qualified therapists.
You'll carry an independent caseload of adults and children with physical, intellectual, and psychosocial disabilities — conducting functional assessments, prescribing assistive technology, and delivering community-based rehabilitation. Most positions sit within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Australia's government-funded support system for people with permanent and significant disability.
If your career has included home assessments, disability caseloads, or community-based rehabilitation, you already have the foundation these employers are looking for. Prior Australian experience is not required.
Key responsibilities
Conduct functional assessments to evaluate clients' daily living capabilities
Prescribe assistive technology and recommend home modifications
Develop person-centred intervention plans in collaboration with clients and their support networks
Carry out home and community visits, managing an independent caseload
Produce clinical reports and maintain case documentation in line with NDIS requirements
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary allied health team
Apply clinical judgement in complex and novel disability presentations
Contribute to service quality improvement and professional development activities
Requirements
Essential
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised institution
Current registration or licence to practise as an Occupational Therapist with the recognised statutory authority in your home country
Minimum 1 year post-qualification clinical experience
Experience working with clients with physical and/or intellectual disabilities
Advantageous
Community, home-based, or rehabilitation OT experience
Functional capacity assessment skills
Assistive technology prescription or home modification experience
Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities
How it works
We manage the recruitment and introduction process end to end — from your first conversation with us through to employer introduction. Our immigration partner, a MARA-registered firm, manages visa processing and employer sponsorship once you've been selected.
There is no cost to you at any point in the recruitment process. Visa and immigration costs are a separate matter between you, your employer, and the immigration agent — we'll explain this clearly before you commit to anything.
