Patient Navigation Associate - Future of Cancer Care Today (FCCT) About Future of Cancer Care Today Future of Cancer Care Today (FCCT) helps cancer patients and families navigate the rapidly expanding landscape of cutting-edge treatment - genomic sequencing, combination therapies, personalised medicine. We provide concierge-style navigation, supplier intelligence, and treatment-ladder guidance to a small number of patients and families at a time. We are not a medical provider; care decisions stay between patients and their doctors. The premise is simple: helping today's patients access the best of what's possible generates the learning that benefits everyone who comes after. FCCT is incubated by the Sijbrandij Foundation, founded by Sid Sijbrandij (founder of GitLab). The Foundation backs a small portfolio of mission-driven initiatives in healthcare and beyond, built for durable infrastructure rather than one-off philanthropy. About the role Patient Navigation Associates are the next generation of FCCT's patient-facing team. You'll train to run your own caseload within months, becoming the primary point of contact for many of the families FCCT works with. Training is structured, not sink-or-swim: months of shadowing calls, studying playbooks, and working cases alongside senior team members - building fluency in the science, the operational rhythm, and the emotional register of the work before you lead conversations independently. Every complex case is reviewed with Bayli or Poornima. The programme is designed to give you real responsibility as fast as your judgement can carry it, with senior support behind every call. What you'll do During training - roughly your first three months Complete FCCT's foundational curriculum (roughly two hours of video content before your first family conversation) Shadow senior team members on intake calls, family briefings and case reviews - sitting in on multiple calls a day is expected Learn the case-management workflow - Airtable, the FCCT supplier reference, documentation standards Draft written work under senior review - follow-up emails, case summaries, research syntheses Take live calls with observation, followed by structured post-call review Once trained - roughly month four onward Own a caseload of families across different stages of their cancer journeys Run intake calls independently and translate clinical and family context into a working case plan Synthesise scientific and treatment research, matching what's possible in the literature to what's possible for each family Draft family-facing deliverables - follow-up emails, personalised options reports, question banks for their care team, referrals into the FCCT supplier network Escalate complex cases through FCCT's protocol Maintain rigorous case documentation, contribute to FCCT's internal knowledge base, and help refine playbooks and templates as gaps are identified Who we're looking for Scientifically literate. A background in life sciences, public health, nursing, pharmacy or a related field. You're comfortable - or quickly becoming comfortable - reading a molecular tumour report, a trial protocol, a scientific paper. Emotionally steady. You can hold hard conversations without deflecting into false reassurance, sit with silence when a family is composing themselves, absorb difficult news and stay present for the next call. A strong writer. Much of the value here is delivered in writing, and that needs to show up as clear, warm, precise prose. Curious. What you learn in month one will need updating by month six. You keep learning because the field asks you to. Careful with detail. You handle sensitive patient information with rigour, and you document what you do so any teammate could pick up a case cleanly. Comfortable working within limits. FCCT is not a medical provider and never crosses that line, even when families are pushing for answers only a clinician can give. You know how to hold that boundary warmly. What success looks like During training You complete the foundational curriculum within two weeks and can articulate FCCT's three-pillar framework without a script You sit in on calls actively, not passively - tracking what the senior team member is doing and why, and asking useful questions in post-call review Your written drafts require diminishing revision over the training period Once running your own caseload Families feel heard and supported, and are likely to recommend FCCT to someone else You return follow-up emails within 24 hours and complete case documentation within 24 hours You contribute at least one playbook and five suppliers to FCCT's knowledge base each month The right to live and work in the Bahamas, or eligibility for sponsorship FCCT can support Based in Freeport, Grand Bahama, or willing to relocate there for a start date between June and December 2026 A Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences, public health, nursing, bioinformatics, pharmacy or an adjacent field (PhDs welcome, not expected) Demonstrable comfort with technical or clinical material - a trial protocol or a genomic report shouldn't faze you Strong written communication - translating complex information into something a family in crisis can actually use The temperament for high-stakes, emotionally weighted conversations - FCCT will train the methodology; it can't train calm A genuine interest in cancer care, patient navigation or translational science - this work is too demanding to do well without it Where this role isn't the right fit If you're looking for a research-bench, policy-analysis, or no-human-contact role If you don't have - and aren't close to - a life-sciences-adjacent degree or equivalent clinical or technical fluency If the appeal is mainly the Bahamas as a place to live, rather than the mission and the work itself Compensation & benefits US$60,000–70,000, tax-free under Bahamian law - materially stronger post-tax than the headline number suggests against a comparable US, UK or Canadian offer Relocation support structured around an initial evaluation period - flights, shipping, temporary accommodation, landing logistics; direct support with the work-permit process for non-Bahamian hires Comprehensive health coverage Paid leave and recognised Bahamian public holidays Annual professional development budget A small, capable team; a mission with multi-year runway; direct contact with cancer patients and families at the moments that matter most; the chance to help build something from the early stages
