About the Opportunity

We are working with an innovative engineering and manufacturing business developing advanced industrial equipment and technologies.

As the business continues to expand its in-house manufacturing capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Pressure Equipment Welder to take ownership of specialist welding and fabrication activities.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys building high-quality equipment, solving complex manufacturing challenges and working closely with engineers to bring designs from concept through to finished assemblies.

The successful candidate will play an important role in improving manufacturing processes, supporting product development and ensuring equipment is manufactured to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and fabricate pressure equipment, including vessels, pipework, manifolds, heat exchangers and other specialist assemblies.
  • Carry out high-quality welding on stainless steel components, particularly pressure-rated equipment.
  • Support the fabrication of non-pressure equipment, including structural frames, sheet metal assemblies and industrial equipment.
  • Interpret and work independently from engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications and initial design concepts.
  • Take ownership of fabrication projects from initial requirements through to completed assemblies.
  • Work closely with engineering and design teams to improve manufacturability, assembly methods and overall product quality.
  • Support pressure testing, inspection, quality assurance and certification activities.
  • Ensure welding activities meet relevant industry standards, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, manufacturing processes and production turnaround times.
  • Provide technical input and practical guidance to other team members where required.
  • Liaise with external suppliers, contractors and specialist service providers when necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience welding and fabricating pressure vessels, pipework or similar pressure-rated equipment.
  • Strong TIG welding experience, particularly with stainless steel.
  • Experience working with stainless steel grades such as 316L.
  • Relevant welding qualifications or certifications, ideally to ISO 9606-1 or equivalent.
  • Experience welding pipework and vessels across a range of diameters and wall thicknesses.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications and fabrication documentation.
  • Good understanding of welding procedures, material preparation, dimensional tolerances and quality control.
  • Familiarity with pressure testing, inspection processes and relevant manufacturing standards.
  • Strong awareness of workshop health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities and take responsibility for the quality of completed work.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience manufacturing equipment for industrial, energy, chemical processing or other highly regulated engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of pressure equipment certification and associated quality documentation.
  • Experience with fabrication of heat exchangers, reactors or specialist process equipment.
  • Experience working in a prototype, R&D or low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to contribute to design-for-manufacture discussions and recommend practical engineering improvements.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring other welders and fabrication technicians.
  • Experience coordinating external fabrication or specialist manufacturing contractors.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and developing new technical skills.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a practical, technically capable individual who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys having ownership of their projects.

You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment where priorities can evolve, designs are continuously improved and collaboration between manufacturing and engineering teams is essential.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to work with minimal supervision.

Package & Benefits

  • Salary: £40,000–£60,000 depending on experience
  • Full-time or part-time opportunities
  • On-site role in South London
  • Private healthcare
  • Generous and flexible annual leave arrangements
  • Opportunity to work on technically challenging engineering and manufacturing projects
  • Scope to take ownership of manufacturing activities and contribute to the development of a growing engineering operation

Apply

If you are an experienced Pressure Equipment Welder looking for a hands-on role with greater autonomy, technical variety and opportunities to make a meaningful contribution, we would welcome your application.

We encourage applications from candidates with relevant practical experience, even if they do not meet every requirement listed above.
