About the Role
This is a principal-level IC design role at the heart of a novel thermodynamic computing platform that uses thermal noise in CMOS to perform probabilistic sampling, targeting dramatic power efficiency gains for AI acceleration and edge computing. You will join a small, senior engineering team that has already completed multiple chip tape-outs and is now defining the architecture for its next generation of silicon. The work spans the full analog/mixed-signal design cycle, from architecture through lab validation.
What You'll Do
Lead the design of analog and mixed-signal blocks including ADCs, PLLs, bandgaps, regulators, high-speed SerDes, oscillators, and dividers for upcoming tape-outs.
Own large portions of chip architecture and serve as design lead for one of several planned chips.
Perform hands-on layout work and design verification including DRC, ERC, and LVS.
Collaborate with IC, systems, physics, and algorithms teams to translate probabilistic computing concepts into silicon.
Support lab testing and validation of fabricated chips using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
What We're Looking For
6 or more years of experience in CMOS analog and mixed-signal circuit design.
Hands-on design experience with mixed-signal blocks such as PLLs, SerDes, ADCs, or oscillators.
Multiple completed tape-outs, ideally in FinFET or advanced nodes such as 28nm or 65nm.
Proficiency with Cadence simulation flows including PEX, Monte-Carlo, and corners analysis.
Layout experience beyond review, comfortable getting hands-on in a lean team environment.
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on circuits or IC design.
Familiarity with Python or C is a plus for scripting and verification support.
Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this role is $200,000 to $325,000 USD annually, plus equity. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
This is an on-site role based in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to the Boston area.
