A leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering technically complex projects across mainland Europe. The business has a strong track record across the data centre and other advanced construction sectors, with a focus on safe, efficient and high-quality project delivery.

The Role

An experienced Project Director is required to lead the delivery of a major data centre project in Berlin. The role carries overall responsibility for the project from pre-construction through to completion and handover, covering programme, commercial performance, safety, quality and client management.

The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary project team and coordinate closely with the client, consultants, subcontractors, supply-chain partners and statutory authorities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the project from pre-construction through delivery, completion and handover.
Take overall responsibility for programme, budget, commercial performance, safety and quality.
Ensure contract and construction programmes are developed, maintained and achieved.
Manage project costs, preliminaries, variations, extensions of time and final accounts.
Review contract amendments and assess their commercial and operational implications.
Oversee the appointment, compliance and performance of subcontractors.
Drive value engineering throughout the design and construction process.
Maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants, supply chain and project stakeholders.
Lead and develop the project team, establishing clear responsibilities and accountability.
Ensure compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements and industry best practice.
Oversee practical completion, Building Control requirements, project close-out and handover.
Provide accurate progress, commercial and performance reports to senior leadership.

Skills and Experience

Proven experience leading major data centre or similarly complex construction projects.
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, including cost control, change management and final accounts.
Experience managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.
Strong understanding of construction programmes, design coordination, procurement, safety and quality.
Demonstrable experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams.
Excellent client-facing, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Relevant qualification in engineering, construction management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Membership of a relevant professional body would be advantageous.
