Assessment and disability Psychology across Australia
About the role
Community and disability psychology roles, placed with Australian employers who sponsor qualified psychologists.
The primary focus is psychological assessment — cognitive, neuropsychological, and functional capacity — alongside evidence-based intervention for clients with disability, acquired brain injury, and co-occurring mental health presentations. Most positions sit within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Australia's government-funded support system for people with permanent and significant disability.
Psychologists with a strong assessment background and experience across complex, high-needs caseloads are well-matched to these roles. Prior Australian experience is not required.
What you'll do
Key responsibilities
Maintain a caseload of NDIS participants referred for psychological assessment and management of psychological and behavioural difficulties
Conduct cognitive, neuropsychological, and functional capacity assessments as clinically indicated
Develop and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions for clients with disability and mental health presentations
Produce clear, professional reports documenting assessments, plans, and outcomes for multidisciplinary teams
Monitor intervention progress and modify plans as required; arrange onward referrals where necessary
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary allied health team, contributing to case discussions and clinical reviews
Maintain AHPRA registration and fulfil annual CPD requirements
Participate in service development, quality improvement, and research initiatives
What you'll need
Requirements
Essential
Masters degree in Psychology from a recognised institution
Current registration or licence to practise as a Psychologist with the recognised statutory authority in your home country. Note: Registered Counsellors are a separate HPCSA category and are not eligible for AHPRA registration as a Psychologist — this role is not suitable for Registered Counsellors.
Minimum 1 year post-registration clinical experience
Experience with psychological assessments (cognitive, behavioural, developmental, or diagnostic)
Advantageous
Assessment experience: cognitive, neuropsychological, functional capacity, or behavioural evaluation
Experience with intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, or psychosocial disability presentations
Clinical experience in community mental health, disability, or rehabilitation settings
Experience using trauma-informed and strengths-based practice frameworks
How it works
We manage the recruitment and introduction process end to end — from your first conversation with us through to employer introduction. Our immigration partner, a MARA-registered firm, manages visa processing and employer sponsorship once you've been selected.
There is no cost to you at any point in the recruitment process. Visa and immigration costs are a separate matter between you, your employer, and the immigration agent — we'll explain this clearly before you commit to anything.
