Registered Nurse – Medical - Gastroenterology

Role Overview: This registered nurse position involves providing specialized care on a 21-bed gastrointestinal/medical unit, focusing on patients with complex GI disorders such as bleeding, liver failure, hepatobiliary issues, cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. The nurse will deliver direct patient care, patient and family education, and coordinate transitions of care, emphasizing discharge planning and holistic nursing approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate nursing care across the continuum, ensuring effective communication and patient advocacy.
• Support professional nursing practices, including mentoring, leadership, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
• Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient acuity and staff skill levels.
• Possibly operate a personal vehicle as part of job duties.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with at least one year of RN experience.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Current RN license and BLS certification are required; additional state licensure and specialty certifications may be needed.
  
  

Additional Details: The role is nonexempt with a pay range of $43.84 - $66.84 per hour.
