Role Overview: The registered nurse (RN) provides specialized care on a 21-bed gastrointestinal/medical unit, caring for patients with complex GI disorders such as bleeding, liver failure, cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. The RN is responsible for coordinating nursing care, patient/family education, and discharge planning, utilizing a holistic approach to meet diverse patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care and support transitions of care.
  • Implement and evaluate nursing plans aligned with professional standards.
  • Mentor, lead, and participate in quality improvement activities.
  • Assist with discharge planning and patient education, especially for chronic illness management.
  • Support team collaboration and maintain effective communication.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; one year RN experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in team environments and familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, adapt to unpredictable situations, and demonstrate leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Current RN license and BLS certification required prior to employment.
