Registered Nurse (RN), U.S. Virgin Islands (Relocation) | Correctional Healthcare Reference: 01CLFCT009 Location: St. Croix (Kingshill) and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; on-site at a correctional facility (positions available on both islands) Employment Type: Full-time with benefits (W-2) Compensation: $95,000 to $120,000 annual, commensurate with experience; Lead Registered Nurse variant $109,000 to $131,000 (see below) Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 8-hour shifts or 4-day 10-hour shifts as assigned; Atlantic Standard Time Agency Environment: Territorial correctional healthcare: contracted clinical staffing supporting the medical division of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections; clinical scheduling and supervision by the Government Medical Director and Health Service Administrator Position Overview CLF Consultants LLC seeks Registered Nurses for full-time correctional healthcare positions with the Virgin Islands Bureau of Corrections on St. Croix and St. Thomas. These are dedicated, facility-based roles delivering frontline nursing care to an underserved patient population, with clinical scheduling and supervision provided by the Government Medical Director and Health Service Administrator. The successful candidate is a clinically confident RN who thrives on autonomy, triage judgment, and structured protocols. Correctional nursing offers what many hospital roles do not: a defined 40-hour week, no census-driven mandatory overtime, a tight-knit clinical team, and patients for whom your assessment is often the first consistent healthcare they have received. Candidates relocating from the mainland receive relocation assistance and full support through the Virgin Islands licensure process. One Lead Registered Nurse position is also available at the St. Thomas facility. The Lead RN provides hands-on nursing care plus clinical-lead duties: rounding on care quality, coordinating shift coverage, mentoring nursing staff, and participating in audits and incident reviews. The Lead RN role carries the higher compensation band shown above and requires prior charge nurse or lead experience. Former military, VA, emergency, behavioral health, and correctional nurses are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Conduct intake and receiving health screenings, identifying emergent and urgent needs including injuries, intoxication, withdrawal risk, psychosis, and potential for contagious disease Obtain comprehensive medical and psychiatric histories and identify follow-up needs across chronic care, mental health, dental, and outside-provider records Administer and document medications, manage medication ordering, and run sick call triage for non-emergent needs within 24 hours Take vital signs, perform EKGs, lab draws, and urine collection, and provide initial health assessments and physical examinations with appropriate referrals Check emergency bags and carts every shift and deliver emergency response care within the facility Maintain chronic care caseloads for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma Communicate effectively with mental health, medical, and security staff, and coordinate with attorneys, probation officers, and outside professionals supporting continuity of care Document all encounters accurately and maintain confidentiality under HIPAA Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse license in the U.S. Virgin Islands, or an active U.S. RN license with eligibility for Virgin Islands licensure by endorsement (CLFC supports the application; VI licensure must be completed before start) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN) Minimum 2 years of acute care, emergency, psychiatric, or correctional nursing experience Current BLS certification Strong assessment, triage, and documentation skills with the professional steadiness for a secure environment Ability to pass facility security clearance and background screening Strongly Preferred Qualifications BSN degree Correctional, detention, forensic, or psychiatric nursing experience ACLS certification; certification in correctional health (CCHP) a plus Experience with withdrawal monitoring protocols (CIWA-Ar, COWS) Charge nurse or lead experience (required for the Lead RN variant) Existing ties to the U.S. Virgin Islands or Caribbean region Why Practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands No passport required: the U.S. Virgin Islands is a U.S. territory, so U.S. citizens travel with a standard government ID. U.S. licensure standards and a U.S. dollar economy, with CLFC support for Virgin Islands licensure by endorsement (typically 4 to 8 weeks). Caribbean island lifestyle on St. Croix or St. Thomas: year-round climate, beaches, and a close-knit community. Mission-driven work serving a medically underserved population where your clinical judgment has direct impact. Relocation and licensure support so the move is straightforward, not a hurdle. Compensation and Engagement Details Annual salary range: $95,000 to $120,000 (W-2 full-time with benefits); Lead Registered Nurse variant: $109,000 to $131,000 Housing assistance or stipend to offset island cost of living Cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) reflecting the U.S. Virgin Islands market Defined on-call and after-hours expectations; the Lead Registered Nurse coordinates shift and coverage scheduling Annual continuing education (CME/CEU) allowance and licensure renewal support Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holiday schedule 401(k) with employer match, eligible after 90 days of employment Relocation assistance provided as a stipend (not a repayable loan) for qualified mainland candidates Virgin Islands licensure application support provided by CLFC, with licensure fees reimbursed Stable, defined 40-hour schedule with no census-driven mandatory overtime Multi-year contract potential aligned with the contract base term and renewal structure About CLFC Healthcare and Communications CLF Consultants LLC (DBA: CLFC Healthcare and Communications) is a federal contractor providing healthcare staffing and language access services across U.S. federal, state, local, and territorial agencies.
