Safety Manager — CCR Landfill Operations

Slater Infrastructure Group LLC

Milledgeville, GA · On site, full-time

$105,000 – $120,000 + relocation assistance

The project

A major utility is relocating coal ash from four closed ponds into a new lined landfill near Milledgeville, Georgia.

The role

You are the safety authority on this site, and we mean that structurally. You report to the site manager for day-to-day work and to Slater’s corporate HSE lead independently, and your stop-work authority does not run through the project chain. Nobody on this job overrides you on schedule grounds.

What you'd own

  • The site safety program: orientation, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, incident investigation.
  • The owner’s behavioral safety observation program on site — observation quotas, coaching, trend reporting.
  • Subcontractor safety compliance, including supplying protective equipment to any sub who shows up without it.
  • Traffic control where equipment meets truck and pedestrian traffic, coordinated with the other contractors on site.
  • Heat illness prevention, dust exposure monitoring and respiratory protection. Coal ash handling makes this more than paperwork.
  • Emergency response and coordination with plant security.
  • Weekly drone flights. The owner requires aerial photo and video documentation of progress every week. We’re doing it in house rather than subcontracting it, which means you fly it — including strict no-fly discipline around the substation.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years in construction safety, 3+ as the lead safety professional on a site of comparable size.
  • CHST or CSP in hand at hire.
  • OSHA 30; OSHA 500 trainer authorization, or willing to earn it in your first 120 days.
  • FAA Part 107 remote pilot certificate, or earned within 30 days of starting — we pay for it. It’s a self-study written exam.
  • Experience enforcing an owner’s safety program, not only your own employer’s.
  • The judgment and the spine to stop work and mean it.

Helpful, not required

  • Previous work on a large utility or power generation site, especially with an owner-run behavioral safety program.
  • Coal ash, power generation or demolition experience.
  • Certified Utility Safety Professional.

What we offer

  • $105,000 – $120,000 depending on experience and certifications held.
  • Relocation assistance.
  • Part 107 and OSHA 500 paid for, including course time.
  • Medical, dental and vision; 401(k) with company match; paid time off and holidays.
  • Company vehicle and fuel.
  • Independent reporting line and genuine stop-work authority — in writing, not as a slogan.
