The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for an Aviation Safety Official (ASO) to join us as part of our Flight & Ground Aviation Safety team located in Mascoutah, IL (Mid-America Airport).
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Senior (Level 4 or Level 5) ASO.
This position is vital to the success of Boeing Defense Production Programs. The current production program at Mid-America Airport (MAA) is MQ-25. This program requires an ASO who will be the primary focal to the local Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) to ensure flight and ground procedures are established and maintained, to monitor compliance and to manage the Aviation Safety Program. You will have close contact with the Boeing Chief Pilot – Tactical, Product Engineering, Quality Assurance and Production Operations for the Mascoutah site. You will also contribute to the success of Boeing’s Mission Assurance plan through the Chief Aerospace Safety Office (CASO) and Engineering Safety & Mission Assurance (ES&MA). You will team directly with the Division Chief Engineer and the Program Chief Engineer as well as the Site Productions Operations Leader. This is a tremendous opportunity to promote aviation safety (flight and ground) and work with exceptional engineering and production programs.
Primary responsibilities:
- Assists with investigations of accidents and incidents involving company products and services. Participates in company safety processes and initiatives.
- Participates in the discussion of legal cases and claims with in-house and outside counsel. Researches, acquires and provides specific facts and data in response to, or in anticipation of, litigation.
- Prepares for interpretation and dissemination of accident investigation related materials. Participates in field investigations.
- May support production safety flight incident investigations and conduct safety surveys at operating locations under Defense Contract Management Agencies (DCMA) requirements.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Level 4: 9+ years of relevant technical experience in a combination of aviation safety, systems safety analysis, safety management system, ground test, flight test, aviation operations or test hazard analysis in a commercial and/or military environment
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship Experience leading technical teams
- Experience working within aviation regulatory environments
- Experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.
- Experience conducting investigations and managing the investigative process

- Level 5: 14+ years of relevant technical experience in a combination of aviation safety, systems safety analysis, safety management system, ground test, flight test, aviation operations or test hazard analysis in a commercial and/or military environment
