Who are we?
Liontown Limited (ASX: LTR) is one of Australia’s newest lithium producers. Our Kathleen Valley Lithium Operation in Western Australia is a Tier-1 asset with a mine life of more than 20 years. We are scaling underground production while planning the next phase of the operation’s long-term future. With our processing facilities and a passionate team, we are set to become one of the world’s largest hardrock lithium operations.
Our operations are designed with sustainability at their core, powered by renewables and built for long-term impact.
The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Ventilation Engineer to join our Mine Planning team, on a permanent, full-time basis; site-based at Kathleen Valley on an 8:6 fly-in fly-out (FIFO) roster with 12-hour days. This is a senior role with genuine technical ownership. You will hold the statutory Underground Ventilation Officer appointment and act as our subject matter expert for underground ventilation.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be accountable for ventilation compliance, system integrity and life-of-mine ventilation planning during a critical phase of our operation. You will work closely with Planning, Operations and our underground contractor, and you will be a visible safety leader in the field.
What you will be doing
Your key responsibilities will include:
-
Hold the statutory Underground Ventilation Officer appointment and ensure all ventilation activities meet Western Australian mining legislation.
-
Independently manage the Ventilation Control Management Plan, and keep the ventilation logbook accurate, current and ready for statutory inspection.
-
Ensure primary ventilation surveys are completed quarterly and secondary surveys weekly, with defects reported to the Underground Manager and actioned promptly.
-
Maintain and update the life-of-mine ventilation model to reflect current and planned underground development.
-
Produce quarterly ventilation schedules aligned with the mine plan, working with Planning and Operations to make sure ventilation capacity supports scheduled mining.
-
Develop the ventilation capital budget in line with the site budgeting cycle, and prepare capital expenditure requests with clear technical justification.
-
Lead by example on safety through regular field engagement with underground operators, verifying compliance with ventilation controls and helping build a strong safety culture.
What we are looking for
With a safety-first mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities, you will bring:
-
Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) or equivalent qualification
-
Satutory Underground Ventilation Officer appointment, or eligibility to obtain one
-
At least four years’ experience in underground mine ventilation engineering, including ventilation survey programmes, modelling and statutory compliance; and at least two years’ experience maintaining life-of-mine ventilation models and producing ventilation schedules aligned with mine plans
-
Working knowledge of Western Australian mining legislation and the obligations of a Ventilation Control Management Plan
-
Advanced knowledge of ventilation principles, survey methodologies and modelling software such as Ventsim or equivalent
-
Sound understanding of ventilation infrastructure, airflow management, auxiliary ventilation systems and emergency response planning
-
Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug & alcohol screen; obtain a National Police Clearance; and hold a C Class driver’s licence.
It would also be an advantage to have:
-
Postgraduate qualification in mine ventilation, occupational hygiene or a related discipline.
