Senior Mining Engineer – Open Pit & Underground

Search Partners is continuing to partner with Core Lithium as we look to appoint a Senior Mining Engineer to its Finniss operation, approximately 90km south of Darwin.

With the Grants open pit restart underway and development progressing rapidly at the BP33 underground mine, Core is entering an important phase of growth.

This Senior Mining Engineer role will help strengthen the site's technical leadership capability and act as the conduit between site and Technical Services in Perth.

The Opportunity

This is a senior, site based technical leadership position with significant responsibility and direct influence over the operation.

Initially, your focus will be on supporting the Grants open pit, providing technical leadership across mine planning, scheduling and operational execution. As BP33 progresses, your responsibilities will increasingly extend into underground development and the transition towards underground production.

You'll be the key technical interface between site operations and the broader Technical Services function, working closely with the General Manager and Underground Manager to ensure mining plans are practical, achievable and effectively executed.

We're looking for someone who can bring technical depth, leadership and sound operational judgement to a developing mining business.

This isn't just a planning role. It's an opportunity to take genuine technical ownership, build capability and help shape how the operation develops.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience in mechanised hard rock underground mining, ideally complemented by open pit experience.
  • Demonstrated success within and ideally leading mining engineers or technical services teams.
  • Strong mine planning, design and scheduling capability, with strong Deswik skills.
  • A sound understanding of mine development, production sequencing and operational constraints.
  • Ability to translate technical plans into practical operational outcomes.
  • Experience working across mining operations, geology, geotechnical, survey and broader Technical Services.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to influence decisions at site management level.
  • A practical, hands on approach suited to a lean operating environment.

Experience supporting a mine restart, underground development or transition from open-pit to underground operations would be particularly valuable.

Preference is for a Darwin based professional working a 5:2 residential roster, however

FIFO is also be considered.

International candidates are encouraged to apply, with employer sponsorship available for suitably qualified professionals.

Why Consider Core Lithium?

Finniss offers the opportunity to join a growing Australian lithium operation at an important stage of its development.

You'll work closely with an experienced General Manager, have meaningful input into operational decisions and play an important role in supporting the current open pit operation while helping build the technical foundations for BP33 and future underground mining.

For someone who enjoys technical responsibility, operational involvement and the opportunity to make a tangible difference, this has plenty of meat on the bone.
