Senior RF Design Engineer
Permanent Full Time | Sydney-based Role | Work Visa Sponsorship
Every day across Australia, GME technology is helping people stay connected, stay safe, and get home safely.
From UHF CB radios trusted by four-wheel drivers, transport operators and emergency services, to emergency beacons that play a critical role in search and rescue operations, our products are designed, engineered and manufactured right here in Australia.
For more than 65 years, GME has built a reputation for creating reliable communication and safety technology that performs in the harshest conditions. We're proudly Australian-owned and one of the few companies in our industry with end-to-end capabilities spanning research, design, engineering, testing and manufacturing.
We're now looking for a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our Engineering team and help shape the next generation of communication and safety products used across Australia and beyond.
Why this role is different
This isn't a role where you'll be designing components that disappear into someone else's product.
At GME, you'll work on complete RF design systems that make it into the hands of customers and are relied upon in real-world, mission-critical situations.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Design RF solutions for market-leading communication and emergency beacon products
- Influence product architecture and technical direction
- Work closely with Electronics, Firmware, Mechanical and Manufacturing teams
- Use dedicated RF test and development facilities
- Take ownership of products from concept through to production
- See your designs become products used across Australia and around the world
If you enjoy solving challenging RF problems and want to see your designs make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior RF Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design, development and optimisation of RF circuits and systems for new and existing GME products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing RF circuits and subsystems
- Simulating, analysing and optimising RF performance
- Prototyping, testing and validating RF designs
- Leading RF design activities throughout the product development lifecycle
- Supporting PCB design reviews and component selection
- Solving complex technical and performance issues
- Ensuring designs meet regulatory, manufacturing and performance requirements
- Working closely with production teams to successfully launch products
- Preparing technical documentation and participating in design reviews
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced RF Engineer with a strong background in practical RF circuit design and development.
You must have hands-on experience designing and developing RF circuits including:
- RF Power Amplifiers
- Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs)
- Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuits
- RF Filters
- RF Switches
- Modulators and Demodulators
Essential
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering or a related discipline
- Extensive experience designing and developing RF circuits and systems
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV1 Security Clearance
Highly regarded
- Experience developing communication or radio-based products
- Knowledge of analogue, digital and mixed-signal circuit design
- Experience with radio modulation techniques including AM, FM and digital radio technologies
- Experience working within ISO9001, AS9100 or similar quality environments
- Experience supporting products from concept through manufacturing and production release
Join us
At GME, engineering sits at the heart of what we do.
You'll join a team of engineers who design and manufacture products locally, with the opportunity to work on challenging RF design problems and develop products that are relied upon in critical situations every day.
If you enjoy designing real RF hardware and seeing your work become a finished product, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help engineer the technology Australians rely on when communication matters most.
