About the Role
This is a senior or staff-level product engineering role at the intersection of applied AI and platform engineering, sitting within a small, high-ownership team building the backbone of a two-sided labor marketplace. You will wire frontier models and AI agents into production across the full staffing pipeline, from sourcing and vetting to matching and placement, while also owning the core backend services the entire product runs on. The work is high-leverage and foundational: the systems you design here will define how the company scales for years to come.
What You'll Do
Define and drive how AI agents are applied across the stack to automate the end-to-end staffing pipeline.
Architect and lead core platform systems, including real-time matching engines and autonomous vetting pipelines powered by ML and agents.
Own the agent harnesses, evaluation infrastructure, orchestration patterns, and model strategy the product depends on.
Partner with senior engineering leadership on key architectural decisions around how agents are built, evaluated, and deployed at scale.
Drive backend performance, reliability, and scalability across a distributed, high-throughput platform.
Immerse yourself in customer workflows and let field observations directly shape technical architecture.
Set the standard for AI-assisted tooling and raise the engineering bar by establishing foundational patterns and canonical examples.
What We're Looking For
5 to 10 years of professional software engineering experience; strong CS fundamentals (degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred).
Hands-on product engineering experience at a high-growth startup, with a track record of owning features or products that delivered tangible business results.
Proven experience building 0-to-1 agentic AI products in production, including harness design, eval infrastructure, and model provider integration.
Deep expertise designing distributed systems, APIs, and data models; proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js with PostgreSQL and a message broker such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Experience building front-end interfaces with React and React Native integrated with backend services.
Background in one or more of: agentic or applied AI, matching and recommendation systems, multi-sided marketplaces, labor platforms, or operational industries such as logistics, supply chain, or healthcare.
Comfort moving across multiple domains or products and shipping at high velocity in early-stage environments.
