Job Type: Full-time, onsite

Pay: $80,000 – $110,000 per year, plus performance bonus and a defined path to profit sharing and partnership

Location: 100 Merrick Rd, Suite 500E, Rockville Centre, NY 11570

About the role

HHL Advisors Group is a growing boutique CPA firm serving small businesses, emerging middle-market companies and high-net-worth individuals across New York and nationally, with offices in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, Dallas, Kansas and Raleigh. We are hiring a Senior Tax Associate for our Long Island office who wants more than a job: this is a partner-track position for someone ready to take ownership of client relationships and, over the next several years, lead the office as our local partner.

You will inherit an established book of business and individual clients, work directly with the firm’s founding partner, and be measured on client retention, service quality and growth — the same things a partner is measured on.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary contact for a portfolio of business owners and high-net-worth families: planning calls, year-round advice, and tax season delivery
  • Prepare and review federal and multi-state returns for S corporations, partnerships, C corporations, trusts and individuals
  • Oversee bookkeeping, payroll tax filings and account reconciliations for business clients, with support from our accounting staff
  • Develop and present tax planning strategies for closely held businesses and their owners
  • Handle IRS and state notices, audits and correspondence
  • Supervise and train junior staff as the office grows
  • Build relationships in the Long Island business community and bring in new clients

The partner track

  • Year 1: own client relationships and demonstrate retention and service quality
  • Years 2–3: eligibility for profit sharing tied to office results and a supervisory role over local staff
  • Years 3–5: eligibility for an equity interest and local partner designation, subject to performance and firm approval

We will put the milestones in writing at hire.

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation; CPA or EA license required, or CPA candidate with exam progress
  • 3 to 6 years in public accounting with direct client responsibility
  • Strong with S corporation, partnership, trust and individual returns; multi-state and high-net-worth planning experience a plus
  • Comfortable advising business owners in plain language and managing deadlines independently
  • Proficiency with UltraTax, Lacerte or similar, and QuickBooks

  • Benefits

    • 401(k) with company matching after one year
    • Paid time off and family leave
    • CPE support and a professional achievement bonus on earning your CPA or EA
    • Visa sponsorship available for qualified candidates
