An early-stage startup building the operating system for psychotherapy practices is hiring a Founding Engineer.

Their software helps therapists and practice owners understand how their business is performing, see what needs attention, and spend far less time on admin. They have raised over $5M, the team is six people in New York, and they are hiring our third engineer to own a major product vertical: practice analytics and insights.

This is a founding engineer seat. You will work with the co-founders every day, own product areas outright, and shape both the product and the engineering culture from the ground up.

What You Will Do

Own entire product verticals end to end: roadmap, architecture, execution and production operations
Build AI-powered analytics and tooling that lets one practice operator support 40+ practices instead of 1-2
Run parallel Claude Code and Codex agent sessions to ship at dramatically higher velocity
Architect and deploy full-stack features in Python and React on AWS, with no dedicated DevOps support
Make product decisions autonomously: spot the opportunity, form an opinion, ship it without waiting for a spec
Build the EHR integrations and data layer that practice analytics runs on

What We Are Looking For

5-10+ years of full-stack engineering with real product ownership
You have built and shipped a product end to end, zero to one, not just features inside a larger team
Full-stack fluency across frontend and backend, built from scratch rather than maintained
A sophisticated agentic AI workflow: Claude Code or Codex deeply integrated with parallel sessions and custom tooling, not casual copilot use
Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience, AWS preferred, plus Docker
High agency and an ownership mindset, and comfort with early-stage intensity
Based in New York City or willing to relocate promptly. This role is five days a week in office

Stack

Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, AWS (ECS, RDS, ElastiCache, EC2), Docker, Playwright, GitHub Actions, Claude Code, Codex.

Compensation

$200K-$320K base salary depending on experience
Meaningful equity, roughly 0.5%-1%
Relocation support for candidates moving to New York
Open to visa transfers such as OPT and H1B on a case-by-case basis

Interview process

A 45-minute behavioral conversation with a co-founder, including a lightly technical discussion of system design
A 2-4 hour system design and product building exercise: review a partially fleshed-out spec and codebase, identify the wrong decisions baked into it, talk through your approach, then build the solution. AI tools are allowed and encouraged
