Software Engineer

About the Role

You'll join as the second engineer at an early-stage biotechnology company building tools to digitize the immune system and power clinical trials for major pharmaceutical developers. This is a high-ownership role where your work directly shapes the product and supports high-stakes scientific research.

What You'll Do

• Build full-stack features including customer-facing trial dashboards and sample notification systems.

• Implement machine learning techniques for automated boundary detection of cancer cells in cytometry data.

• Upgrade and maintain data visualization pipelines for complex scientific datasets.

• Automate lab workflows spanning sample preparation through data analysis.

• Communicate directly with scientists and clients to inform product development with a customer-facing mindset.

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated track record of shipping production software to real users at a quality-focused company, with measurable, quantitative impact.

• Strong proficiency in Python for backend and data processing work.

• Experience with React and TypeScript for frontend development.

• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including deploying scalable services.

• Experience applying machine learning techniques to data analysis, particularly for boundary detection in cytometry or similar scientific imaging data.

• Prior work with large-scale scientific or complex datasets (such as genomics, cytometry, or imaging).

• Experience building customer-facing dashboards or data visualization tools.

• A portfolio, open-source contributions, or other concrete evidence of shipped features.

• Background at a company known for engineering excellence.

• Comfort working with a modern, relevant technology stack.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 to $160,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site, five days per week, in Salt Lake City, Utah or San Mateo, California. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to one of these locations.
