Software Engineer | Newcastle | Complex Technical Problems | Relocation Support Available

If you’re the kind of Software Engineer who enjoys being handed a difficult problem and working out how to solve it from scratch, this could be worth a conversation.

We’re working with a growing technical organisation in Newcastle that is continuing to invest in its software engineering capability.

Rather than looking for engineers from one very specific technical background, we’re interested in speaking with people who have built genuine depth in software engineering and enjoy tackling problems where the answer isn’t already obvious.

Please note: You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance. Visa sponsorship is not available for these opportunities.

What could your background look like?

We’re interested in Software Engineers across a range of areas, including:

• Backend and application development
• Systems and low-level software
• Embedded and real-time engineering
• Cloud and platform engineering
• Full-stack development
• Technical leadership and architecture

Your experience could include technologies such as:

• C# / .NET
• Java
• Python
• C++ or Rust
• React / TypeScript
• SQL and APIs
• AWS or Azure
• Linux

You don’t need experience across all of these.

What’s much more important is having strong engineering fundamentals, real depth in your own area and the ability to get stuck into technically challenging problems.

What makes the opportunity interesting?

The work isn’t about simply picking up predefined tickets and following an established solution.

There’s an opportunity to get involved much earlier in the problem, understand what needs to be achieved and help determine how it should actually be solved.

For experienced engineers, there is also scope to remain hands-on technically while contributing to areas such as:

• Technical direction and architecture
• Engineering standards and code quality
• Mentoring other engineers
• Designing solutions to complex technical problems

We’re particularly interested in people who are naturally curious, enjoy getting under the skin of a problem and want to continue developing technically rather than moving completely away from engineering.

Not currently based in the North East?

That’s absolutely fine.

The search is UK-wide and relocation support is available for people who would consider moving to Newcastle for the right opportunity.
