We are building a team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.
Working alongside experienced professionals, you will play a role in implementing leading-edge technology, automation, monitoring systems and operational improvements that will define how the mine operates for years to come.
Due to recent internal movements an exciting opportunity has opened up for a ventilation and gas drainage professional to join Grosvenor Mine.

This is an opportunity to combine your technical expertise with practical leadership, shaping ventilation strategies that support safe underground operations and the mine’s future.
About the role
You will provide leadership and technical direction across ventilation planning, monitoring and operational controls. Working closely with Technical Services, Operations and site leadership, you will help ensure ventilation and gas management are integrated into day to day decisions and longer term mine plans.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Fulfil the responsibilities of the appointed statutory Ventilation Officer, maintaining safe and effective mine ventilation.
- Lead ventilation planning, design and optimisation to support development and longwall operations.
- Oversee ventilation surveys, gas monitoring and performance analysis, identifying emerging risks and driving timely action.
- Plan and oversee ventilation changes including the installation and maintenance of ventilation control devices.
- Maintain and improve ventilation and gas management plans, standards, procedures and risk controls.
- Provide technical input into gas drainage strategies and short, medium and long term mine planning.
- Lead inspections, audits and investigations, ensuring findings translate into effective improvements.
- Coach and develop ventilation personnel and strengthen ventilation awareness across operational teams.
About you
You’re an experienced underground coal professional who combines strong ventilation knowledge with sound judgement and a practical approach to leadership. You can communicate complex technical issues clearly, influence operational decisions and keep safety at the centre of your work.
You will bring:
- A Queensland-recognised Ventilation Officer qualification and current Practising Certificate appropriate to the statutory appointment.
- Demonstrated underground coal mining experience, with strong expertise in ventilation and gas management.
- A sound understanding of Queensland coal mining legislation and site Safety and Health Management Systems.
- Experience in ventilation planning, monitoring systems, gas drainage and operational risk management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to identify risks, challenge assumptions and recommend practical solutions.
- The ability to build effective relationships across technical, operational and leadership teams.
- Full time permanent position based at Grosvenor Mine, Moranbah QLD
- Monday to Friday staff role with 9-day fortnight available
- Competitive Salary + 12% Super + Annual Bonus
- Residential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO options
- Subsidised accommodation, housing, and company funded camp options provided
