About Us
Founded by Mastercard and WorldRemit former executives, with early employees from Google, Uber, American Express, HSBC and Deliveroo. Volume (www.getvolume.com) is a London-based payments startup on a mission to move money seamlessly around the world. We are an FCA Authorised Payments Institutions, and our mission is to create a universal checkout on the Internet enabling online shoppers to pay and businesses to get paid quickly, easily, conveniently, and eventually for free with just one click.
Faster than Apple Pay, Volume is the only payment method that allows consumers to pay in one-click using their bank app and businesses to eliminate payment intermediaries such as Stripe, PayPal, card networks and their extortionate hidden fees.
Our Culture
We don’t follow the traditional corporate or start-up model but empower our people to own their work end-to-end. The challenge is not for everybody, we are entirely mission-driven with a fully autonomous team culture. You decide the strategy, you move the metric, we help to achieve your goals.
The Role
We are hiring an AML Analyst to operate at the intersection of Compliance, Risk and Operations. This is a hands-on, analytical role with direct exposure to real payment flows, regulated partners and complex merchant models. You will be expected to exercise independent risk judgement and stand behind your decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end corporate KYB for merchants
- Analyse complex ownership structures and identify UBOs
- Review business models, payment flows and use cases
- Perform sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening
- Conduct EDD on higher-risk merchants
- Prepare clear, defensible case summaries and escalations
- Escalate material risks to the MLRO with clear rationale
- Conduct ongoing transaction monitoring and help shape TM rules and alert logic as we build in-house
- Investigate and manage fraud cases
- Identify discrepancies between declared and actual activity
- Maintain accurate and complete compliance records
- Support ongoing improvements to AML and financial crime controls
- Handle first-line enquiries and support live merchants
- Liaise with Sales and Customer Experience on onboarding, merchant reviews and compliance queries
About You
You have:
- More than 4 years of hands-on corporate KYB experience
- Experience in a regulated fintech / payments / E-money / PSP environment
- Exposure to merchant onboarding
- Experience conducting transaction monitoring, analysing alerts and making risk-based decisions
- Strong understanding of complex structures, UBO discovery and EDD
- Ability to assess business models and payment flows critically
- Clear written reasoning and escalation discipline
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving startup with ownership and accountability
- Willingness to engage in areas outside the traditional scope of an AML role where needed - we’re a small team where everyone wears many different hats
- Fluent written and spoken English
If your experience is primarily retail KYC or transaction monitoring, this role will not be a fit.
Nice to Have
- Experience in merchant acquiring or A2A payments
- Exposure to fraud signals, chargebacks or CNP risk
- Experience investigating APP fraud cases
- Familiarity with Companies House and AML screening tools
- Basic understanding of APIs / payment integrations
What We Offer

- Clear performance-based progression path and salary review aligned with growth and contribution
- B2B contract structure preferred.
- Remote-first setup - we focus on outcomes, not hours
- Real ownership from day one - you make risk calls and stand behind your reasoning
- Direct exposure to regulated partners, live payment flows and scaling challenges
- Fast execution, minimal hierarchy, no unnecessary bureaucracy
- High autonomy with clear accountability
- Opportunity to shape and improve core TM, KYB and Operations processes
