Senior Kotlin Developer

We build and manage remote operational support and development teams, while also supporting our freelance collaborators during their journey.

We are looking for a Senior Kotlin Developer to take a key role in designing and developing robust, scalable backend solutions. You will work extensively with Kotlin, Spring Boot, and AWS, contributing not only to implementation but also to architectural decisions, technical direction, and engineering best practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Kotlin and Spring Boot
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions using AWS
• Take ownership of technical solutions from design through implementation and delivery
• Work with event sourcing and event-driven architectures, contributing to architectural decisions and implementation strategies
• Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD) principles when modelling complex business domains
• Drive Test-Driven Development (TDD) and advocate for automated testing and high code quality
• Design APIs and services following clean architecture and maintainability principles
• Participate in and lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews
• Identify technical risks and propose appropriate solutions and improvements
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve application performance and reliability
• Mentor less experienced developers and contribute to the team's technical growth
• Collaborate closely with architects, product owners, and other technical stakeholders

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Solid experience designing and developing solutions on AWS
• Strong understanding and practical experience with event sourcing architectures
• Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Good practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices
• Ability to take ownership of technical decisions and work independently
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
