Job title: Human Resources Officer (AO4) | 12 Month Contract | Gold Coast

About the opportunity
Six Degrees Executive is partnering with a large Queensland Government department to recruit a Human Resources Officer for a newly created contract role based in Nerang on the Gold Coast.
You'll join a regional HR program support team, providing hands on HR support to team leaders, managers and program and project staff across the South Coast region.

Contract details
  • Rate: $60.05-$65.82 per hour plus superannuation (PAYG)
  • Hours: 38 hours per week, full time
  • Duration: 2 November 2026 to 29 October 2027, with extension possible
  • Location: Nerang, Gold Coast, with work from home available after an initial settling in period
  • Reports to: Principal Human Resource Advisor
Key responsibilities
  • Support team leaders and managers across a wide range of HR matters
  • Research and analyse routine HR matters, providing recommendations consistent with policy and legislation
  • Coordinate inductions and exits for the region
  • Liaise with employees and leaders on establishment and payroll activities
  • Apply HR policies, procedures and processes to day to day operations
  • Prepare and complete standard HR forms and documentation
  • Use the HR Information System for data entry, data interrogation and routine reporting
  • Contribute to culture and recognition events and business improvement activities
  • Build strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Monitor and report on the status of program, project and administrative support activities
About you
To be successful, you'll bring:
  • Solid HR generalist experience, with demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource Management practice
  • Experience in payroll, workforce planning or establishment management
  • Confidence interpreting HR policy and applying it to real situations
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and clear written and verbal communication
  • Sound judgement, rigour in analysis and the ability to work independently and know when to escalate
  • Experience using an HRIS for data entry and reporting
Queensland Government experience is beneficial but not essential. Candidates from the private sector with strong HR generalist experience are encouraged to apply.
