Help lead card services that make managing money easier
At Summit Credit Union, we believe financial wellbeing should be accessible, empowering, and even enjoyable. As our Assistant Manager, Card Services, you will help lead the people, processes, technology, and partnerships behind our credit and debit card programs.
Reporting to the AVP of Payments, you will provide operational leadership for Card Services, support employee development, manage vendor relationships, and help improve service quality, efficiency, compliance, risk management, and the overall member experience. You will also serve as a trusted escalation point for complex card-related matters and help turn department priorities into consistent, effective execution.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day leadership and prioritization for credit and debit card operations, platforms, reporting, inventory, promotions, service events, vendor processes, and issue resolution.
- Coach, guide, and develop employees so they can perform their responsibilities accurately, deliver excellent service, resolve issues professionally, and expand their knowledge of card operations and payment processing.
- Monitor regulatory, card-network, and industry developments and assess their potential impact on Card Services operations.
- Identify operational risks, service trends, process gaps, and opportunities to strengthen controls, compliance practices, workflows, training, and reporting.
- Lead or support strategic card initiatives, program changes, vendor enhancements, processor performance activities, cross-functional projects, and business continuity needs.
- Manage vendor relationships, service concerns, implementations, and performance expectations.
- Resolve escalated member, employee, and vendor concerns using sound judgment, clear communication, appropriate documentation, and collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Continuously evaluate Card Services tools, practices, reporting, and communications to improve efficiency and create a consistent member and employee experience.
- Perform responsibilities in alignment with Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, and Customer Identification Program requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, leadership, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five years of experience in card operations, payment processing, or financial services.
- Knowledge of credit and debit card operations, card platforms, and Visa regulations.
- Leadership, coaching, or project experience, with the ability to guide performance, develop employees, and manage competing priorities.
- Experience managing vendor relationships, implementations, service issues, and performance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to assess risk, resolve complex issues, and identify process improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with employees, business partners, vendors, and members.
- Sound judgment when balancing member needs, regulatory requirements, operational priorities, and business considerations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation, reporting, compliance, and operational controls.
Why You’ll Make an Impact
In this role, you will help ensure that card services operate reliably, employees receive the support they need to succeed, and complex issues are handled with care and professionalism. Your leadership will directly contribute to stronger operational controls, more efficient processes, and a consistent experience for both members and employees.
