Assistant Research Scientist

Role Description The Assistant Research Scientist will support legal and policy-focused research projects on a part-time, remote basis. Day-to-day responsibilities include gathering and analyzing information from legal databases, academic publications, and regulatory sources, as well as organizing findings into clear summaries, memos, and reports. The role involves assisting senior team members in designing research methodologies, verifying the accuracy of data and citations, and preparing materials for internal use or client-facing documents. The Assistant Research Scientist will collaborate with colleagues across different locations, maintain detailed research records, and adhere to confidentiality and ethical standards in all work.

Qualifications

• Strong legal and policy research abilities, including experience using online databases, academic resources, and official government or regulatory sources.
• Proficiency in written analysis and report drafting, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly and accurately.
• Attention to detail in citation checking, fact verification, and document review to ensure high-quality, reliable outputs.
• Comfort with remote collaboration tools, time management skills, and the ability to work independently across different time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in law, political science, international relations, or a related field; advanced studies or research experience is an advantage.
• Professional fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or additional languages relevant to the region is beneficial.
• Demonstrated interest in Gulf region legal systems, comparative law, or cross-border regulatory issues is preferred.
