Show job description

Want to shape AV systems from the first client conversation through to handover? Infinite AV Solutions is looking for an experienced AV Systems Designer to work alongside our Director, designing systems and building the proposals and tenders that win us work. If you can also program Crestron or Q-SYS, even better. You’ll help our programming team when things get busy.

About us

Infinite AV Solutions has been delivering AV for schools, businesses and hospitality venues across Sydney since 2019, and we’re only getting started. We’ve grown steadily, but we’ve kept the startup energy: a small, close-knit team that backs each other, moves fast and genuinely enjoys the work.

We’re not interested in doing things a certain way just because that’s how they’ve always been done. If there’s a better tool, a smarter process or a new approach worth trying, we’ll try it. That goes for how we design systems, how we quote and how we run the business. No red tape, no layers of approval, and no clinging to old systems.

About the role

Design is the core of this role. You’ll work directly with our Director to scope solutions, design systems and shape the quotes, proposals and tenders that drive our pipeline. You’ll also produce the documentation our technicians and programmers build from. Alongside design, you’ll support our programmer with overflow control and DSP programming during busy periods.

You’ll split your time between working from home and client sites, mostly across Sydney, with occasional visits to our Central Coast office. You can live anywhere between Camden and Newcastle, as long as you can get to Sydney sites regularly with some interstate travel on the odd occasion.

What you’ll do

System Design (your main focus)

  • Design AV systems from client briefs, including equipment selection, signal flow and control architecture
  • Join client meetings and site visits to understand requirements and recommend solutions
  • Make sure designs are technically sound, buildable and commercially viable

Quotes, Proposals & Tenders

  • Work alongside our Director to develop quotes, proposals and tender responses
  • Prepare technical content, product selections and design drawings for submissions
  • Estimate labour, programming and commissioning time accurately so jobs are quoted to make money

Documentation

  • Produce schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack and patch panel layouts, and control architecture documentation
  • Create scope of works drawings for proposals and project handover
  • Update documentation post-install to reflect as-built changes

Programming Support

  • Assist our programmer with overflow Crestron, Q-SYS, FrontRow and DSP programming
  • Build and customise touch panel and controller interfaces as needed
  • Support testing, commissioning and post-install code or DSP updates

Project & Client Support

  • Attend project handover meetings to brief the delivery team on design intent
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and subcontractors during installation
  • Assist with user acceptance testing, client training and fault diagnosis
  • Help us improve our design and quoting processes as we grow

What you’ll bring

  • 4–5+ years in AV system design and/or systems integration
  • Energetic personality ready to make this role their own and help take us to the next level
  • Proven experience designing and specifying AV systems, ideally across education, corporate or hospitality
  • Experience preparing or contributing to quotes, proposals or tenders
  • Strong documentation and drawing skills
  • Commercial awareness, so you understand that a good design also has to be a profitable one
  • Working knowledge of Crestron and/or Q-SYS programming (certifications highly regarded)
  • Formal AV or electronics/communications training (TAFE or equivalent) preferred
  • Confidence working with clients and explaining technical concepts simply
  • Based between Camden and Newcastle, with reliable transport to Sydney sites
  • Current driver’s licence & WWCC

Why join us

  • Grow with us. We’re a growing business, so this role will grow too. You’ll help shape how we design and quote as we scale.
  • Your ideas actually get used. Got a better way to do something? Bring it. We’d rather test a new idea than defend an old process.
  • No red tape. Decisions get made quickly, by people who are close to the work.
  • A close-knit, energetic team. We work hard, back each other and have fun doing it. No two days are the same.
  • Real influence. You’ll work directly alongside the Director on what we design, quote and win.
  • Variety. Education, corporate and hospitality projects keep the work interesting.
  • Flexibility. Work from home when you’re not on site, with no daily commute to the office.
