Bankruptcy Paralegal (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptionally detailed, disciplined, and experienced Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our legal team. In this role, you will manage consumer bankruptcy cases—specifically Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 filings—from initial document review through court presentation and discharge.
You will be responsible for handling the full lifecycle of approximately 1 case per day, ensuring meticulous document verification, petition preparation, motion drafting, evidence discovery, and timely electronic court filings.
Candidates with a strong background in Civil Federal Litigation or Complex U.S. Immigration law who possess exceptional legal writing and procedural compliance skills are also highly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Petition & Schedule Preparation: Review debtor financial disclosures, tax returns, bank statements, and pay stubs to draft, compile, and finalize complete Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy petitions, statements, and schedules.
- Document Review & Verification: Conduct rigorous reviews of financial documents and evidence during discovery to ensure absolute accuracy and compliance with local bankruptcy court rules.
- Motions & Legal Drafting: Draft standard and complex bankruptcy motions (e.g., motions to extend automatic stay, motions to avoid liens, object to claims), pleadings, and notices for attorney review.
- Court Submissions & E-Filing: Format, organize, and upload case documents directly to court filing systems (ECF/CM), ensuring strict adherence to court deadlines.
- Discovery & Evidence Handling: Organize discovery materials, track creditor claims, assist with 341 Meeting of Creditors preparation, and handle post-filing amendments or trustee requests.
- Workflow Management: Manage a steady case volume (~1 case per day end-to-end), maintaining high data accuracy within firm practice management systems.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years of direct experience as a Paralegal handling U.S. Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases.
- (Alternative: Strong, proven background in U.S. Civil Federal Litigation or high-volume U.S. Immigration law with extensive document drafting and ECF filing experience).
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with bankruptcy software (e.g., Best Case, NextChapter, or similar CMS), electronic court filing systems (CM/ECF), and cloud repositories (Google Workspace / Microsoft 365).
- Language Proficiency: Fluent/C1+ written and spoken English, with a precise command of U.S. legal terminology and legal writing.
- Accuracy & Focus: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain zero-error accuracy while managing ~1 case per day.
- Remote Setup: Must have your own functional computer/laptop, high-speed backup internet connection, and a noise-free, confidential remote work environment.
Working Hours
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday (aligning with U.S. business hours).
