About Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative
Kiajer Youth Empowerment Initiative (KYEI) is a youth-focused nonprofit organisation committed to empowering children, young people and women through education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, gender equality, peace and social cohesion, humanitarian support and human rights.
As KYEI continues to strengthen its organisational structure and expand its programmes and partnerships, we are seeking qualified and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
About the Role
The Board of Trustees Member will provide strategic leadership, professional expertise, governance support and networks that contribute to the growth, sustainability and long-term impact of KYEI.
We are particularly interested in individuals who are influential within their professional or community networks and can actively contribute to partnership development, resource mobilisation, organisational growth and strategic decision-making.
This is a leadership role for individuals who are prepared to contribute beyond their professional title and actively support the organisation's mission.
Key Responsibilities
▫️Provide strategic guidance and oversight to support the growth and sustainability of KYEI.
▫️Contribute professional expertise to the organisation's governance, programmes and strategic direction.
▫️Support the development of strategic partnerships with relevant institutions, organisations, businesses and stakeholders.
▫️Identify and facilitate opportunities for grants, funding, donations, partnerships and other forms of resource mobilisation.
▫️Leverage professional and community networks to create opportunities for KYEI.
▫️Represent and promote the organisation professionally within relevant networks and stakeholder spaces.
▫️Participate in Board meetings, strategic discussions and key organisational decisions.
▫️Support accountability, transparency and good governance within the organisation.
▫️Provide constructive advice and mentorship where appropriate.
▫️Champion KYEI's vision, mission and values.
Requirements
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:

▫️A well-established professional, business, institutional or community network.
▫️The ability to identify and facilitate strategic opportunities.
▫️Commitment to youth empowerment, education, skills development and community impact.
▫️Integrity, professionalism, accountability and sound judgement.
▫️Willingness to actively participate in the affairs of the organisation.
▫️Previous experience in nonprofit leadership, governance, fundraising, partnerships, business development or community development is an advantage.

Remuneration
This is a voluntary, non-salaried Board position.
However, KYEI recognises the contribution of Board members who successfully support resource mobilisation.
BOT members who successfully mobilise resources for the organisation will receive an agreed commission in accordance with KYEI's approved resource mobilisation framework.
The commission applies to successfully mobilised resources, not to general Board participation.
