Want to take ownership of how a business turns data into decisions?

We’re recruiting on behalf of an international group modernising its data environment. Joining a small internal team supporting Northern Europe, you’ll work directly with the business and take responsibility for solutions across SQL, data modelling and Power BI.

This position suits an experienced BI developer who can work independently, make sound technical decisions and build reporting that remains reliable as the business grows.

The opportunity

You’ll contribute to modernising an Azure-based data warehouse, improve shared data models, and help move business logic out of individual reports into centrally maintained solutions. Working alongside BI colleagues, business analysts and a dedicated data engineer, you’ll own work from requirements through development, validation and ongoing improvement.

What you’ll do

  • Develop SQL transformations and prepare reliable datasets for reporting.
  • Build and maintain Power BI reports, semantic models and DAX calculations.
  • Design data models that support consistent reporting across multiple business needs.
  • Consolidate duplicated business logic and contribute to reporting migration.
  • Investigate data discrepancies, refresh issues and report performance.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to clarify requirements, challenge unsuitable requests and agree practical solutions.
  • Maintain and improve your solutions after delivery.

Essential requirements

You must bring practical experience in all of the following:

  • Strong SQL development: independently writing and troubleshooting queries and transformations that combine, prepare and validate data from multiple sources.
  • Hands-on Power BI development: building and maintaining reporting solutions using DAX and Power Query.
  • Data and semantic modelling: designing relationships, understanding how tables interact and assessing the effect of modelling decisions on accuracy and performance.
  • Understanding the complete BI solution: explaining how source data, transformations, models and reports fit together, including where business logic should sit.
  • Independent technical ownership: taking a solution from business requirements through implementation, testing and ongoing maintenance.
  • Structured troubleshooting: identifying the underlying cause of data or reporting problems and validating that your changes resolve them.
  • Stakeholder communication: translating business needs into technical solutions, explaining trade-offs and confidently challenging requests when needed.
  • Swedish and English: able to work directly with business stakeholders in both languages.
  • Regular attendance at the Stockholm office: this is a hybrid position, with approximately three office days per week once settled.

You should be able to discuss specific examples of what you personally designed, built and improved. Experience limited to creating dashboards on top of prepared datasets will not meet the technical scope of this role.

What makes the move interesting?

  • Ownership of solutions and visibility of their impact across the business.
  • Meaningful involvement in warehouse and reporting modernisation.
  • A small team where you can contribute to technical decisions.
  • International exposure through work supporting Northern Europe.
  • A permanent position with 30 days’ annual leave.
