A fantastic opportunity to bring people together, support passionate volunteers and help Beyond Blue connect with communities across Australia. You will play a key role in connecting Beyond Blue with communities across Australia, supporting volunteers and community events that help us reach diverse and priority populations.
This is an active, hands-on role involving frequent local and interstate travel, including some weekend event attendance. You’ll also need to be comfortable assisting with manual event set-up and pack-down, including lifting and carrying materials, signage, equipment and marquees. The role is hybrid, with onsite work at Beyond Blue’s Melbourne CBD Hub.
About the role
Beyond Blue is looking for a proactive and highly organised Community Engagement Coordinator (Events and Volunteers) to join our Strategic Engagement team.
Working closely with the Events and Volunteers Programs Lead, you’ll help coordinate Beyond Blue’s presence at community events across Australia and support the volunteers who bring our work to life in communities.
From coordinating event logistics and supporting volunteer recruitment and onboarding, to preparing communications and helping evaluate the impact of our events, this is a varied, hands-on role where no two days will be quite the same. You’ll work with volunteers, community organisations and event partners to help increase awareness of mental health information, support and services, reduce stigma and strengthen connections within communities.
About you
You’re a proactive and organised person who enjoys bringing people together and making things happen. You thrive in a varied, hands-on environment and are just as comfortable coordinating the details behind the scenes as you are out in the community supporting events and volunteers.
You’re a natural relationship builder who communicates confidently with a wide range of people and brings a positive, flexible and practical approach to your work. You enjoy working collaboratively, can think on your feet when plans change, and are always looking for ways to make things simpler and better.
Most importantly, you’ll be motivated by the opportunity to support passionate volunteers and help Beyond Blue connect with communities across Australia in meaningful ways.
Qualifications
- A qualification in Event Management, Community Engagement or a related field, and experience in the health or not-for-profit sector, would be advantageous but are not essential.
Experience
- Previous experience in administration, coordination, event management and/or volunteer coordination.
Key Strengths
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and logistics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor your approach to different audiences.
- Confidence using databases, content management systems and online technologies.
- A proactive, solutions focused approach and the ability to anticipate needs and problem solve on the go.
- A collaborative and flexible approach to working with colleagues, volunteers and community partners.
- A can do attitude and an ability to continuously improve Events and Volunteers programs
- Require a valid driver’s licence
