You’ll build and operate production pipelines that our traders rely on daily, learning alongside senior data practitioners and taking on greater ownership as your experience grows.
Here’s what the job entails
You will build, migrate and operate data ingestion pipelines, helping modernise how shared market data reaches our users. Working with senior data modellers and data-quality specialists, you will take responsibility for both the code you deliver and how it runs in production. This gives you hands-on experience of large-scale platform modernisation while developing your engineering skills.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
migrating existing data collectors (which fetch market and vendor data from websites, APIs and files) onto our modern data platform via our Python and C# based ingestion framework
building new pipelines that deliver data both to the lakehouse (Databricks/Delta Lake) and to existing trading data systems
making pipelines reliable: automated tests, data-quality checks, safe re-runs and the ability to reload historical data
operating and improving the pipelines you build: monitoring data delivery, investigating failures and fixing recurring problems
working with data scientists to understand their data requirements and make shared source datasets clean, reproducible and ready for use in forecasting and trading models
contributing with documented examples and reusable pipeline patterns, helping other teams work with shared data and apply our engineering standards
Meet your team
You will join Data Platform Enablement, the team that makes shared external market data trustworthy, consistent and reusable across Danske Commodities. We build and operate the pipelines that collect and harmonise this data, and establish common engineering methods, modelling principles and quality standards. Working alongside Data Platform Infrastructure, which provides the underlying platform capabilities, we help product teams, analysts and data scientists build on a reliable data foundation.
We are a newly formed team of six experienced data practitioners, growing to eight team members, and our backgrounds are currently within data engineering, data modelling, and data science. We are a hands-on team, where we set standards, but we also build and ship and we invest in growing the people who join us. We always seek to leave systems simpler and better documented than we found them.
But enough about us… over to you!
As you will be owning production pipelines and be expected to drive improvements, we imagine that you enjoy taking responsibility for your work and learning from the knowledge around you. We also picture you as a curious person, who is willing to learn more about the field we work in.
Furthermore, we imagine that you:
hold a relevant educational background within computer science, software engineering, data science or similar – or equivalent practical experience
have hands-on experience building data pipelines or data applications in Python, SQL or C#
have a working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
are familiar with version control (Git)
are proficient in English - both written and spoken
Please note that prior knowledge of the energy sector is not required for this role.
