Unateus | Remote | Independent Contractor
About the RoleAt Unateus, the Delivery Team Lead is responsible for building and managing a reliable delivery team and ensuring that every order is actively controlled throughout the delivery process.
This is not a coordination-only role. We are looking for a hands-on operational leader who can set clear expectations, establish professional working relationships with Delivery Operations Partners (DOPs), maintain operational discipline, and drive measurable results.
You will manage a team of independent delivery partners. Your responsibility is to make sure they understand what is expected of them, follow established procedures, communicate reliably, and take responsibility for their work.
We value leaders who combine sound judgment with a firm, fair, and consistent approach. You should be comfortable making decisions, addressing problems directly, and holding people accountable without unnecessary conflict or constant supervision from senior management.
Every order must have clear ownership and active follow-up until it reaches its final outcome.
You will ensure that:
- Every order is processed and assigned correctly.
- Every order has an accurate, up-to-date status.
- Every pending order has a responsible person and a clear next action.
- Delays, delivery problems, and missing updates are identified and addressed promptly.
- No order is forgotten, left unattended, or allowed to disappear from operational visibility.
- Unresolved issues are followed through to resolution or escalated with clear facts and proposed actions.
Your job is not simply to check dashboards or ask for updates. Your job is to ensure that the operational control system actually works.
2. Build Clear Working Relationships With Delivery PartnersYou will manage a team of independent Delivery Operations Partners and establish clear, professional working standards.
This means:
- Making responsibilities, communication requirements, and operating procedures clear from the beginning.
- Ensuring partners respond to operational communication and provide accurate updates.
- Addressing missed commitments, unexplained absences, repeated delays, and non-compliance directly.
- Distinguishing between a partner who needs support and a partner who repeatedly refuses or fails to meet reasonable requirements.
- Providing practical coaching when it can improve performance.
- Documenting recurring problems and taking appropriate corrective action when standards are not met.
- Recommending the removal or replacement of persistently unreliable partners when necessary.
We believe in treating people fairly and respectfully. However, respect does not mean avoiding difficult conversations, repeatedly chasing people who refuse to cooperate, or accepting the same unacceptable behavior indefinitely.
You are expected to establish standards, communicate them clearly, and ensure they are followed consistently.
3. Manage Performance Through Facts and ResultsYou will monitor the performance of individual partners and the team as a whole.
You will be expected to:
- Track delivery and operational KPIs.
- Identify performance deterioration early.
- Understand the actual causes behind missed targets.
- Take specific corrective actions and measure whether they work.
- Recognize recurring operational problems and address their underlying causes.
- Coordinate with the Call Center, Warehouse, Finance, QA, and other relevant teams.
- Report results accurately, including problems, actions taken, outstanding risks, and next steps.
We understand that operational performance can fluctuate. We do not expect every day to be perfect.
We do expect a Team Lead to recognize what is happening, understand why it is happening, take ownership of the response, and demonstrate progress through evidence.
“We are trying” is not a performance result. Clear actions, reliable control, and measurable improvement are.
4. Establish Operational DisciplineYou will ensure that delivery partners follow company procedures and use operational systems correctly.
You must be able to set expectations, check compliance, identify gaps, and follow through when requirements are ignored.
You will not be expected to solve every problem personally. You will be expected to ensure that every problem has an owner, a plan, and appropriate follow-up.
You should be able to work independently without requiring the Operations Director to repeatedly explain the same responsibilities or intervene in routine management issues.
5. Improve the Delivery OperationBeyond daily control, you will identify opportunities to improve team reliability, delivery performance, communication, and operational processes.
You should be able to distinguish between:
- A process that needs improvement.
- A partner who needs training or support.
- A partner who lacks the capability or reliability required for the role.
- A repeated behavioral problem that requires firm corrective action.
Good leadership means choosing the right response rather than treating every problem the same way.
We are looking for someone with demonstrated operational leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to manage people consistently.
You are likely to be a strong fit if you:
- Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to solve a problem.
- Remain calm and decisive when people fail to meet expectations.
- Can establish authority through consistency, competence, and fairness.
- Communicate requirements clearly and address non-compliance directly.
- Can make difficult decisions without becoming aggressive, emotional, or unnecessarily confrontational.
- Use facts, records, and performance indicators rather than assumptions or personal impressions.
- Follow through on commitments and expect the same from others.
- Can distinguish genuine difficulties from repeated excuses.
- Are comfortable managing people remotely and holding them accountable without constant supervision.
- Learn operational processes quickly and translate them into simple, practical working rules.
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in delivery operations, logistics, fulfilment, field-team management, fleet operations, security operations, military or police service, or other environments where discipline, reliability, coordination, and accountability are essential.
Previous military or police experience is welcome but not required. What matters is your demonstrated ability to lead people effectively in real operating conditions.
This position is unlikely to suit someone who:
- Avoids difficult conversations or is afraid of upsetting team members.
- Repeatedly reminds people of their responsibilities but takes no effective action when those responsibilities are ignored.
- Accepts unreliable communication, unexplained absences, or repeated missed commitments as normal.
- Confuses being friendly with being an effective leader.
- Relies on senior management to solve routine team-management problems.
- Reports activity without being able to explain outcomes.
- Blames delivery partners, other departments, or circumstances without identifying their own actions and responsibilities.
- Waits for problems to escalate instead of maintaining active control.
- Needs constant reminders to perform the core responsibilities of the role.
We do not expect an aggressive or authoritarian manager. We expect a mature professional who can be respectful and supportive while maintaining clear boundaries and standards.
Your performance will be assessed using operational evidence, not interview impressions or general statements about effort.
Key areas include:
- Order-control completeness and accuracy.
- Order follow-up and timely handling of pending issues.
- Delivery performance and achievement of assigned targets.
- Partner responsiveness, reliability, and compliance with procedures.
- COD and inventory accuracy and accountability.
- Speed and quality of corrective action when performance deteriorates.
- Improvement in team performance over time.
The first requirement is control: every order must be visible, owned, and actively followed through to its outcome. From there, your responsibility is to improve delivery results and build a team that consistently meets its operational targets.
This is a remote independent contractor position with a fixed monthly payment and performance-based bonuses linked to actual operational results.
The probation period is three months and includes a practical introduction to the operation:
- Week 1: Work as a delivery partner to understand the actual delivery process, daily challenges, systems, customer interactions, and required procedures.
- Week 2: Intensive operational immersion, including SOPs, KPIs, order control, COD, inventory, and team-management processes.
- From Week 3: Gradually assume responsibility for an increasing number of Delivery Operations Partners.
By the end of Month 1, you should demonstrate reliable control of every order assigned to your team, consistent application of operating procedures, accurate records, and active follow-up of outstanding issues.
During Months 2 and 3, the focus shifts to measurable team performance, corrective management, and progress toward operational targets.
Continuation in the role will depend on demonstrated capability and results.
Please do not apply for the sake of it, only apply if you read till this point and you think you are an absolute perfect fit
