The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Design Innovation Manager to lead design-led innovation programs, customer research, opportunity discovery, concept development, experimentation, prototyping, validation, and cross-functional innovation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking, design expertise, user-centered research, creative problem-solving, commercial awareness, and strong project leadership to identify opportunities, develop new concepts, validate solutions, and guide promising ideas toward implementation and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement design innovation strategies aligned with organizational priorities, customer needs, and growth objectives.
- Establish innovation frameworks, methodologies, processes, standards, and governance.
- Identify emerging customer needs, market opportunities, technology trends, experience gaps, and unmet needs.
- Translate strategic business challenges into clearly defined design and innovation opportunities.
- Lead design-led innovation programs from opportunity identification through concept development, validation, implementation, and post-launch evaluation.
- Apply design thinking, human-centered design, service design, systems thinking, co-creation, and other innovation methodologies.
- Conduct customer interviews, observations, surveys, workshops, contextual research, and qualitative studies.
- Analyze customer behavior, needs, pain points, motivations, expectations, and unmet requirements.
- Translate research findings into customer insights, opportunity areas, personas, journey maps, and design requirements.
- Develop customer and user journey maps to identify experience gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate ideation sessions, design sprints, innovation workshops, brainstorming sessions, and co-creation activities.
- Generate, structure, and evaluate concepts using customer, strategic, technical, operational, and commercial criteria.
- Develop prototypes, mockups, storyboards, service concepts, experience models, and other representations of proposed solutions.
- Coordinate rapid prototyping and experimentation to test assumptions and reduce development risk.
- Establish clear hypotheses, validation plans, test methods, and success criteria for innovation initiatives.
- Conduct concept testing, usability testing, customer validation, pilots, experiments, and proof-of-concept programs.
- Analyze testing results and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Determine whether concepts should be refined, expanded, paused, or progressed toward implementation.
- Lead cross-functional teams through discovery, ideation, design, prototyping, validation, and implementation stages.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Technology, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Customer Experience, Finance, and Commercial teams.
- Develop innovation briefs, project charters, roadmaps, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.
- Prioritize innovation opportunities based on customer value, strategic alignment, feasibility, scalability, risk, and commercial potential.
- Develop business cases and investment recommendations for promising concepts.
- Work with Finance and Commercial teams to assess business models, revenue opportunities, cost implications, investment requirements, and expected returns.
- Coordinate pilots and proof-of-concept initiatives with internal teams, customers, partners, and external specialists.
- Establish experimentation frameworks and measurable performance criteria for innovation programs.
- Track innovation initiatives from discovery and ideation through prototyping, validation, launch, and post-launch review.
- Identify implementation barriers and coordinate solutions across business, design, operational, and technical teams.
- Ensure innovation concepts remain feasible from customer, technical, operational, financial, regulatory, and commercial perspectives.
- Develop design principles, experience standards, innovation guidelines, and reusable frameworks.
- Promote consistency between brand strategy, customer experience, product design, service design, and innovation initiatives.
- Maintain innovation portfolios, opportunity pipelines, research libraries, design repositories, and project documentation.
- Monitor emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, digital platforms, immersive experiences, connected products, advanced interfaces, and spatial computing.
- Evaluate how emerging technologies can enable new products, services, experiences, and operating models.
- Benchmark competitors, adjacent industries, startups, design practices, and emerging business models.
- Identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to improve customer experience, operational performance, or commercial outcomes.
- Develop relationships with design firms, innovation consultancies, technology companies, research organizations, universities, startups, and creative partners.
- Manage external innovation partners, consultants, agencies, researchers, and specialist suppliers.
- Define external partner requirements, deliverables, timelines, quality expectations, budgets, and performance measures.
- Facilitate executive workshops and present research findings, innovation concepts, prototypes, business cases, and recommendations to leadership.
- Develop compelling presentations, concept narratives, visual frameworks, experience maps, and decision materials.
- Communicate complex design and innovation concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of experimentation, customer-centricity, collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Establish mechanisms for capturing lessons learned and scaling successful innovation practices.
- Develop methods for measuring innovation impact after implementation.
- Monitor customer, operational, financial, and commercial outcomes associated with innovation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve innovation processes, speed, quality, collaboration, and organizational adoption.
- Support intellectual-property, confidentiality, and innovation governance processes where appropriate.
- Ensure customer research and experimentation activities follow applicable privacy, ethical, and organizational requirements.
- Maintain clear documentation of research findings, concepts, prototypes, testing results, decisions, and lessons learned.

The successful candidate should have strong experience in design innovation, product innovation, service design, user experience, design strategy, customer experience, innovation consulting, product development, or creative technology, preferably within a technology, consumer, professional-services, real estate, retail, or international business environment.
