We’re supporting a major organisation with a critical infrastructure environment and are looking for an experienced Disaster Recovery & Recovery Architecture Lead to design and deliver a new enterprise disaster recovery capability.

This is a senior technical architecture role focused on infrastructure resilience, backup and recovery, cyber recovery and business continuity. The successful candidate will assess existing recovery capabilities, define recovery requirements and develop the target architecture for a new third-site disaster recovery solution.

The role

• Assessing existing enterprise backup, disaster recovery and resilience capabilities.
• Designing a third-site disaster recovery architecture.
• Defining recovery requirements, including Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
• Producing High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), recovery runbooks and operational workflows.
• Defining recovery solutions involving backup, replication, immutable storage, air-gapped environments and cyber recovery vaults.
• Developing recovery approaches across infrastructure, applications, databases and identity platforms.
• Supporting disaster recovery testing, implementation planning and operational readiness.
• Evaluating technical solutions and reviewing supplier proposals.
• Working with infrastructure, security, networking and application teams to support delivery.
• Presenting architecture designs to technical and governance boards.

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

• 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Architecture, Recovery Architecture or Technical Architecture.
• Proven experience personally designing and delivering enterprise disaster recovery, backup recovery or cyber recovery solutions.
• Strong knowledge of backup, replication, immutable storage, recovery vaults and disaster recovery orchestration.
• Experience producing HLDs, LLDs and detailed recovery documentation.
• Experience with VMware vSphere and Windows and Linux platform recovery.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory recovery and Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle recovery.
• Experience in recovery strategy, business continuity, resilience planning and DR testing.
• Experience leading technical workshops and engaging stakeholders.
• Exposure to OpenShift and/or Kubernetes platforms.

Experience delivering third-site disaster recovery solutions, cyber recovery vault implementations or enterprise backup and recovery transformation programmes would be particularly valuable.

This role is suited to someone with a strong infrastructure and recovery architecture background who can translate recovery requirements into detailed technical designs and support implementation planning.

Important: This is a disaster recovery and recovery architecture role, not a general security architecture position.

Candidates must demonstrate hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise disaster recovery, backup recovery or cyber recovery solutions. Profiles primarily focused on IAM, SOC, SIEM, GRC, compliance or cloud security without relevant recovery architecture experience will not be suitable.
