Full Remote | €400/MD | Long-term B2B Contract | Frankfurt Project

For an international client environment based in Frankfurt, Germany, we are looking for an experienced Network Operations Engineer / F5 BIG-IP Specialist focused on Load Balancing and operational network services.

This is a full-time, fully remote B2B project with a strong likelihood of long-term cooperation throughout 2027.

• Contract: B2B / Freelance
• Rate: up to €400 / MD
• Initial contract: until 31 December 2026
• Extension: highly likely for the full year 2027
• Language: English required; German is an advantage, but not mandatory

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for operational activities within the F5 BIG-IP Load Balancing environment, covering the complete infrastructure lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Administration, configuration and troubleshooting of F5 BIG-IP
• Operation of LTM, DNS and AFM
• Configuration and management of Virtual Servers, Pools, Health Monitors and iRules
• SSL offloading and certificate lifecycle management
• TMOS upgrades, firmware lifecycle and F5 licence management
• Troubleshooting application delivery, persistence and HA/failover issues
• 2nd and 3rd level incident resolution
• Support during Major Incidents, including bridge calls, root-cause analysis and emergency changes
• Execution of planned changes and maintenance activities
• Participation in Change Advisory Board activities
• Vulnerability management, CVE tracking and coordination of security patches
• Monitoring and optimisation using CheckMK
• Investigation of security and logging alerts, including Splunk-related log monitoring
• Capacity and availability monitoring
• Maintenance of relevant CMDB data
• Support for audits, compliance activities and security findings
• Identification of operational improvement and automation opportunities
• Creation and maintenance of operational documentation, SOPs and configuration guidelines

Required Experience

We are looking for a specialist with:

• Several years of hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP
• Strong practical knowledge of F5 LTM
• Experience with F5 DNS
• Experience with iRules and TMOS
• Knowledge of F5 AFM
• Experience operating highly available network environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills across load balancing, application delivery and HA environments
• Good understanding of ITIL processes, especially Incident, Problem, Change, Release and Configuration Management
• Fluent professional English

Certification

Required:

• F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator (F5-CA) or an equivalent certification

Strong advantage:

• F5 Certified Solution Expert (F5-CSE)
• ITIL certification

Nice to Have

• Network automation with Ansible and/or Python
• CheckMK
• Splunk
• Experience in regulated or banking environments
• German language skills

Important

The role includes participation in a rotating 24/7 on-call service, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Some planned maintenance and change activities are performed outside standard business hours.
