About VectorY

VectorY is a fast-growing biotech company developing long-lasting therapies for neurodegenerative diseases, based at Amsterdam Science Park. We combine gene therapy and antibody engineering to pursue new possibilities where medical need is high. With approximately 80 professionals across Amsterdam, Europe and the US, we are building momentum and scaling our organisation thoughtfully. At VectorY, innovation and collaboration are not just values. They are how we achieve our ambition. We believe the best ideas emerge when people challenge each other openly, work across boundaries, and stay focused on what is right for the organisation. We embrace diversity while striving to function as one cohesive, mission-driven team. As our organisation continues to grow through clinical development, so does the complexity of our financial planning, reporting and operational processes.

The Role
This is a unique opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys combining analytical thinking with practical problem-solving. As Finance Specialist, you will sit at the intersection of finance operations, financial planning and process improvement. Working closely with the Controller, CFO and budget owners, you will support budgeting and forecasting cycles, monitor spend, investigate variances and provide the analysis that underpins financial decision-making. At the same time, you will play an important role in improving how Finance operates through process improvement, automation and systems optimisation. You will also act as line manager for the Junior Finance Operations Specialist.

Who You Are
You enjoy understanding how things work and how they could work better. You are naturally analytical, but equally comfortable building relationships and working with colleagues outside of Finance. You communicate financial information clearly and are motivated by the opportunity to build scalable finance processes and contribute to a growing organisation where your work has a visible impact.

This role is a great fit for you if...
You enjoy combining numbers with problem-solving. You are just as comfortable analysing financial data as you are improving a process or helping a colleague understand what the numbers mean. If you are looking for a role that combines finance, systems, process improvement, business partnering and leadership exposure in a growing international biotech company, this could be an excellent next step.
What You'll Do
  • Support monthly, quarterly and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, supporting analyses and audit preparation
  • Work with the Controller, CFO and budget owners to support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles
  • Monitor actual and committed spend against budget and provide meaningful analysis
  • Investigate and explain key variances between budgets, forecasts, commitments and actual results
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial analyses for management decision-making
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across finance systems
  • Support effective use and optimisation of Coupa, Twinfield, Ramp and related finance tools
  • Act as line manager for the Junior Finance Operations Specialist
What You Bring
  • An HBO or WO degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business Economics, Business Administration or a related field
  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant finance experience
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights
  • Advanced Excel skills and a genuine interest in systems, process improvement and automation
  • Experience with Coupa, Twinfield, Ramp or comparable systems is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
  • Experience in a scale-up, biotech or project-based environment is advantageous
  • Experience with automation tools, scripting or AI-enabled process improvements is a plus
What We Offer
  • A broad and impactful finance role with exposure to financial planning, analysis, systems and operations
  • The opportunity to help shape and improve Finance during an exciting stage of VectorY growth
  • Direct collaboration with the Controller, CFO and stakeholders across the business
  • A collaborative and international working environment
  • Annual salary of €57,500–€69,500 based on experience, plus a competitive benefits package
  • Annual bonus of 6.5%
  • 30 holidays on a full-time basis
  • Hybrid working model with office days at Amsterdam Science Park
