Financial Accountant

Our client, a well-established Irish company in the retail sector, is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. This is a broad, hands-on role with real commercial exposure, working closely with management and suppliers.

The Role

• Own the general ledger and month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting analysis for management
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and cash flow
• Prepare VAT and statutory returns, and support year-end and the external audit
• Calculate, reconcile and distribute member rebates with a clear audit trail
• Analyse financial and commercial data and present clear findings to management
• Design and improve financial controls, procedures and finance systems
• Act as the senior point of contact for finance queries from members, suppliers and colleagues

The Person

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) with at least 2 years' post-qualification experience
• Solid experience in management accounts, GL maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations
• Practical knowledge of VAT, statutory reporting, audit support and financial controls
• Experience overseeing AP, AR and payroll
• Advanced Excel and a track record of improving finance processes or systems
• Commercially aware, organised and comfortable explaining numbers to non-finance colleagues

Salary: €70k - €80k depending on experience.

• Hybrid working, 1 day on site every 2 weeks.
