Full-Stack Engineer (Quality & Automation)

Is this job info correct?

About Onfleet Onfleet's mission is to power the future of commerce by enabling businesses of all sizes to move goods more efficiently and delightfully. Our product includes intuitive smartphone apps for drivers, a powerful modern web application and dashboard for logistics teams, and automatic notifications and real-time tracking for recipients. Onfleet powers millions of deliveries every week for thousands of businesses around the world across a range of industries, from grocery and prepared meals to pharmacy, flowers, and furniture. About the role Onfleet is hiring a Full-Stack Engineer based in Latin America or Canada to join one of our cross-functional teams as we build out our Orchestration capabilities. You'll be a core contributor across new feature development, architectural improvements, and system integrations. Your work will span our core platforms, APIs, webhooks, and other integration surfaces, evolving courier and orchestration functionality, and improving internal tooling and developer experience. The majority of backend work is in Node.js, with Rust in our newer orchestration service, and TypeScript across the web application and full-stack surfaces. Front-end work is in React, with a mix of JavaScript and TypeScript. You'll work across a blend of greenfield development and continual, thoughtful development and refinement of existing systems: creating high-quality, well-tested code, contributing to a healthy Scrum cadence, and helping tame legacy complexity by putting code under test, isolating change boundaries, and simplifying tangled implementations. This role carries one additional emphasis: quality and automation. Your primary focus will be feature development, but we're looking for someone with strong testing and automation skills as well. Quality will continue to be owned by every engineer on the team, and your expertise and guidance will help the team level up. If you have strong Computer Science fundamentals, care deeply about quality and craft, and bring a scrutinizing, questioning mindset, we'd love to hear from you. How we work Our engineers combine Computer Science fundamentals with a principled approach to software development that sets a high bar for quality. We're pragmatic, quality-driven, and deliberate about the tools and practices we adopt. We code using agents, and nearly 100% of our code is written this way. Success here takes a scrutinizing, questioning mindset: the engineers who thrive are the ones who avoid slop, catch the wrong call before it ships, and drive quality and the right engineering choices forward. Generating code is the easy part; knowing what good looks like, and holding the bar, is the job. To be successful in this role you will need enough expertise in the languages we use to challenge both the code an agent writes and the architecture it proposes. We also expect every engineer to be an active contributor to how we work, not just a consumer of existing workflows. Improving our agentic workflows, orchestration, and tooling is a core part of the role; we're always looking for ways to raise the team's quality and efficiency, and that's expected from everyone. Desire and excitement for the application of AI to software development are critical to this role. We are seeking candidates who want to work in and maintain leading-edge agentic workflows, and stay there as the models and tools evolve. What you'll do Build and continually improve your own agentic development workflow, and help raise the team's. This goes far beyond prompting for code: we use AI across the whole path, from PRDs to technical specs, epics, and tickets, into development plans, and finally into high-quality code with thorough unit and integration tests. Drive quality through disciplined verification and both agentic and human code review, on your own code and your teammates'. Extend our agentic review tooling as you go, and hold the bar on what gets merged. Apply your agentic workflow in both greenfield and legacy code, meeting the different challenges each presents. Own and improve the quality automation you depend on: CI pipelines, checks, and gates, so standards are enforced by the system and not just by people. Lift the team's testing practice by example: pair on test design, extend our automated coverage as you build, and help make hard-to-reach code testable. This is a teaching role, not a gatekeeping one. Design and implement high-quality, scalable software in TypeScript/Node.js, with opportunities to work in Rust, writing code in parallel with the tests that validate it. Take ownership of features end to end, from understanding the requirements, through design, ticketing, and implementation, to testing, validation, shipping, and supporting in production. Continuously refactor and simplify code to improve clarity, maintainability, and long-term system health. Develop and refine our APIs, webhooks, and other integration surfaces. Work in a healthy Agile/Scrum cadence: reliable estimates, proactive and clear communication, and follow-through on commitments. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including participation in the on-call rotation. Collaborate with product and cross-functional partners to prioritize features and bug fixes. What you'll bring (required) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and strong CS fundamentals: data structures, database fundamentals, API design, testing, and an instinct for clean, maintainable code. Front-end and back-end experience, having shipped multiple features that cross the full application stack from ideation to production use by real customers. 4 or more years of hands-on professional software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating production-quality, reliable systems. At least 3 years of professional experience with JavaScript / TypeScript and Node.js, and working comfort in React. You do not need to be a front-end specialist, but you should be able to own a feature across the front end as well as the back end. Experience with a statically typed, compiled language other than TypeScript, for example Rust, Go, Java, C#, or C++. A demonstrated quality focus beyond "writing tests." Real depth in automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers, including hands-on experience with a browser or end-to-end framework such as Playwright or Cypress. You have built coverage a team relied on, not just tests for your own tickets. Hands-on CI ownership: you have created, configured, fine-tuned, or troubleshot a CI pipeline (GitHub Actions or equivalent), not just consumed one that someone else built. Experience with creating software using disciplined agentic flows, from prompt-instructing to complete development orchestrations. A scrutinizing, questioning mindset: you don't accept output, your own or an agent's, at face value, and you surface problems early. A habit of lifting the people around you: pairing, thorough reviews, and writing things down so a practice outlives any one project. Familiarity with cloud service design patterns and modern software architecture. Experience working in an international team whose common working language is English, collaborating day-to-day with teammates in other countries. Excellent written and spoken English. You can work entirely in English on a distributed team, explain complex technical ideas clearly, and write docs and code reviews your teammates rely on. This is roughly equivalent to a C1 level of English. Nice to have Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience. Deeper front-end specialization in React, for example design systems, accessibility, or performance work. Experience with test data and environment management: getting a realistic system into a known state quickly and repeatably. Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native services; microservices and containerization. Proficiency with NoSQL and other modern data-storage technologies. Location and Benefits This is a remote role, open only to candidates based in Latin America or Canada. Onfleet offers flexible work arrangements; you can work from home or anywhere with a reliable internet connection. The team works on US Pacific Time. You'll need to reliably work a schedule that frequently matches US Pacific business hours (9am–5pm PT). Flexible PTO Laptop and work-from-home setup stipend Monthly technology stipends (internet and AI tooling) Onfleet is an Equal Opportunity Employer Onfleet's culture is one that strongly values diversity in its workplace and we are committed to working with potential team members who can bring diverse perspectives and experience to our company and culture. We do not make hiring or employment decisions on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, sex, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, citizenship, or any other basis protected by applicable local, state or federal law. We highly encourage members of underrepresented groups to apply and we will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. Compensation The base salary range for this role is $60K USD to $80K USD per year, depending on experience, skills, and background. Where an offer lands within that range reflects the engineering level and the depth of experience a candidate brings to the role. How we hire You need an identity-verified LinkedIn profile to apply. That's the free "Verified" badge, the shield icon next to your name. We check for it, and applications without it don't move forward. Before any offer, we verify your identity and work history. That includes a live video ID check and reference calls. We use AI, automated systems, and a person to review applications: every application that meets the requirements is also read by an engineering leader or a recruiter. If you misrepresent your identity or experience, the process ends.
