Game Designer — Steam party game (Lyon, Remote, Contract)
About SDP Games
Independent studio in Lyon since 2005. We worked on the completion of L.A. Noire, shipped DS and Wii titles (50+ games), then moved to mobile (100+ games), where Sculpt People passed 300 million players. We also self-publish.
The role
We’re finishing a multiplayer physics party game for Steam — friendslop with singing. Ragdoll characters, grab-and-throw chaos, a karaoke core, 2–8 players online. The tech and content are largely built. We need a designer to make it feel right and get it shipped.
You’ll own:
- Controls and game feel — grab, throw, carry, ragdoll recovery, dance. Simple inputs, deep chaos. PEAK / Mecha Chameleon / Dear Passengers standard.
- Mechanics and modes — the crowd meter, mic ownership, scoring, round structure. Decide what’s fun, cut what isn’t.
- UX — onboarding, calibration (mic/webcam), menus, in-room flows, controller support. The player should never read a tutorial.
- Finishing — playtests, build reviews, clear written feedback, tight specs the dev team can act on today.
You
- Shipped at least one friendslop game, ideally a physics/party/co-op title, or a portfolio of playable prototypes that prove you understand feel.
- Comfortable in Unity. You can tune a spring constant and a camera curve yourself, not just write a doc about it.
- You design through playtesting, not theory. You’ve watched strangers laugh (or not) at your game.
- Strong UX instincts; you’ll own menus and flows as much as mechanics.
- French or English, with working English.
Nice to have
- Experience with friendslop/streamer-driven games, networked physics, rhythm or music games, or Steam launches.
- Apply with a link to something playable and one paragraph on what you’d change about a friendslop game you love.
